Iron Man, Captain America 🦸♂️, Hulk or even Thor 🔨—all these superheroes have become stars! ⭐ But how would you like to become the biggest star of the Avenger team? 😎 To do that, you’ll have to put on your best bib 🎽 and cross the finish line of a marathon 🏁—but not just any marathon: the Stavanger Marathon! 📍 It’s in the fourth-largest city in Norway 🏙️ that you’ll have to face your trial by fire to carve your name into legend ✒️. Between city, park, lakes and seaside 🏞️, you’ll have to take on a bit of elevation gain to conquer this road race! 🛣️ But starting from the Cathedral ⛪, the atmosphere will be so electric it’ll give you wings! 🪽
And if you don’t feel ready to take on the marathon’s 42.195 km, don’t panic—your mission won’t be canceled 😉. On the half-marathon or the 5 km, you can also prove what you’re capable of! 💪 And get ready, because you’ll be immersed in the Norwegian fjords (well, not in the water—you’re not starting a triathlon 🏊). This region of Norway, besides being the heart of the country’s oil industry 🛢️, boasts natural landscapes and monuments that will leave you speechless 😮. But don’t linger too long—you still have a race to finish! 😂 What’s more, at the finish, you’ll switch sides of the barrier to cheer on the next generation of Avengers: the mini-superheroes 🧒 will be there too! An army of little legs will take on a 440 m loop around the Cathedral, to the roar of supporters going wild! 🎉 What’s good to know is that, besides being festive, this event is charity-based! 🎗️ By picking up your bib, you support the "Hospital Clowns" association, which helps children and young people enjoy life and get through a difficult day in the hospital 🫶. A true superhero right down to your sneakers! 👟
After your performance, take some time to discover Stavanger and its surroundings 🚶➡️. Stroll through Old Stavanger and its cobblestone alleys lined with white wooden houses, typical of the area 🏘️. It’s a great opportunity to truly get away from it all! 😍 To learn a bit more about the history of this city and its importance in the oil industry, the Petroleum Museum will open its doors to you! 🤗 If you haven’t had enough fjords during your course and you want more, you can head to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), an hour’s drive away 🚗. This magnificent rocky plateau offers a panoramic view over the Lysefjord 🪨. A pretty solid reward after the effort of the race! 😲 What’s more, you can pair this outing with a delicious fish specialty, typical of Norway 🐟. You’ve got to refuel after such a feat, right? 😏
So come and become the next Avenger of the Stavanger Marathon! 🌟
Here we go for 42.195 km of pure joy! 🥰 The marathon starts from the same point as the half 📍. But at km 6, you’ll head north 🧭 to loop around the lakes of Halandsvatnet and Store Stokkavatnet 🏞️. Once that loop is complete, you’ll reach Mosvatnet and then follow the half-marathon course again to finish your race right in the heart of Stavanger! 🏁
For this half-marathon, you will start in the center of Stavanger 🏙️, then head towards Lake Mosvatnet 🏞️. You will then make your way to Lekeplass Park 🌳. You will be almost halfway through—hang in there! You will follow the coast for 2 km and take a long straight to reach the other shore and the Vaulen district 📍. You will enjoy your last kilometers along the seafront 🌊 before crossing the finish line in the city center! 🏁
For this 5 km, things are going to go very fast! 🚀 You'll start from the parking lot of the Mariero station and follow the coastline 🌊 in a straight line all the way to the finish line right in the center of Stavanger! 🏙️
