Ready for an unforgettable nighttime challenge? 😍 Jump into the adventure of the 15k Formentera Sunset Run! Located in Es Pujols, in the heart of the majestic Balearic Islands region, in Spain 🇪🇸, the event is your chance to push yourself in a breathtaking setting. So we’ll see you in October, near the island of Ibiza, to take on a 5 km or a 15 km at sunset 🌞.
Start by warming up your heart and your thighs with the "5 km Sunset Run" 🌅. This sublime race will have you running along the seaside at twilight. Magical, isn’t it? A beautiful sunset, reflected on the island’s sand, will accompany your strides. No doubt it will motivate you and take you away! 🥰 However, for runners who love to rack up the kilometers, a flagship race is also organized: the "15k Formentera Sunset Run"! 🏃♂️ This race, which will start at 6 pm, in the still mild temperatures of October, will treat you to breathtaking scenery. Running during the day is awesome, but we’ve all done it! But running at twilight? It’s absolutely magical! The temperature, the calm, the landscape... Everything is enchanting! You’ll discover the island in a whole new light... Or rather, at sunset for a unique experience! 😜
And to make your experience complete, don’t forget to enjoy the very best the region has to offer 💝. Make a detour to the magnificent Ses Illetes beach, considered one of the most beautiful in the world 🏖️. If you’re more into culture, wander through the history-filled alleyways of Sant Francesc Xavier, or visit the picturesque village of Es Pujols ☀️. As a couple or with family, a boat excursion to the islet of Espalmador will let you share an exceptional moment 🚤.
So, ready to lace up your sneakers and chase sunsets on Spanish beaches? 😏 The 15k Formentera Sunset Run is waiting for you! 🫵
The start and finish are in the same place, in Es Pujols, for a 15 km loop that goes around the north of the island. The first 2 km climb very gently toward the village of Sant Ferran de ses Roques: nothing too tough, barely about twenty meters, but your calves will notice 📈. You’ll then follow a long, fast, rolling section to Sant Francesc Xavier, the island’s small capital, where you’ll reach the highest point of the course around km 6, at under 40 m of elevation ⛪. Then it’s time to tip over: between km 6 and 9.5, you’ll cruise gently down to sea level alongside the Estany des Peix. After La Savina, the last 5 km are run right by the water, along the shores of the Estany Pudent 🧂, under the glow of the sunset 🌅, in a wonderful setting 😍. With around 50 mD+ in total, accessible to runners of very different profiles and levels, this distance is ideal for making the most of this getaway.
Beyond the 15 km, the 5 km is the other race distance. No loop here: you’ll set off from the port of La Savina, where ferries from Ibiza dock ⚓, and head straight to Es Pujols. You’ll run along the shores of Estany Pudent, the large salt lagoon in the north of the island, before reaching the seaside resort. As for the profile, it’s almost sea level from start to finish: barely 10 mD+ over the entire course—plenty to let the horses loose without a second thought 🐎. In fact, you’ll follow exactly the last kilometers of the 15 km, and you’ll cross the same arch as its runners in the heart of Es Pujols 🏁. A race that promises to leave unforgettable memories!
