The Aude, A-U-D-E, is one of the 13 departments in the region of Occitanie. It is in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, a coastal resort of the urban 🏙️ and coastal 🏖️ town of Fleury, unofficially known as Fleury-d’Aude for homonymy, that the Indigo Coast Marathon finds its setting! 🔥 Encompassed within the regional natural park of Narbonnaise, the community boasts remarkable sites, listed on the Natura 2000 network 🦤. A favorable weather 🌤️ should welcome you this April. You can easily shed some layers thanks to a fairly mild climate 🤗. For this marathon weekend (lol), the municipality of this floral 🌸 city has organized 4 courses of Aude daring 🤸🏼♂️. A 5 km and a 10 km, a hike, a half and a marathon, which can even be run as a relay! All in a natural setting 🍃 that will take your breath away 😮💨, between the Mediterranean Sea 🌊 and the Massif de la Clape, along the wine route! 🍷 Two children's races are also available for the little lambs 🐑.
Feet 🦶 in the vineyards 🍇 (but with sneakers 👟) and eyes 👀 on the sea 🐠 then. The decoration is set up! Indigo Coast welcomes you with three sites with very different faces. Saint-Pierre-la-Mer, already mentioned before, is a family 👨👩👧👦 and natural 🌳 seaside town of Fleury-d’Aude, a typical village of the South ☀️ of France 🇫🇷. If you're not from the region, the change of scenery will be complete, guaranteed! The "10 bornes" is, in fact, the 5 km loop to do twice ✌️. The marathon will take you not far from the Domaine de l’Oustalet, from where you will return to the étang de Pissevaches 🐟, before following the Aude River and making a u-turn at the Cabanes de Fleury. A small fishing port 🎣 that remained wild and natural, it has an undeniable charm. The half-marathon route is perfect if you want to discover the hinterland and finish by the sea, feet in the water 💦. No matter where you start, the course will be animated with brass bands and marching bands to help you keep the pace 🎶. Between the sea 🌊, salt marshes, and vineyards 🍇, come and discover the route of gouffre de l’Œil Doux, the wine road 🍷 and enjoy the aromas of thyme and rosemary wafting from the garrigue 👃🏼. A true reserve of biodiversity, the Massif de la Clape will offer you a rugged relief for unique landscapes 🤩. Just a heads-up, though, among all these bucolic landscapes, apart from the hike, all the races are road races! 🛣️
Do you love the region and marathons? The Trail of Quillan will let you discover the Pyrenees 🏔️. The Trail of Fontfroide will let you discover the Regional Natural Park of Narbonnaise. From a culinary 🍽️ point of view, the oysters 🦪 and mussels from Leucate, grilled, smoked or cooked fish 🍳, and Gruissan-style eel are local specialties of Narbonne. Once your stomach is full, stroll around the city center of the "little Florence of the Languedoc". A city of ancient character, its tour also includes its religious buildings such as the Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur Cathedral ⛪, Fontfroide Abbey, and the Lapidary and Roman Horreum museums 🏛️.
The program is very Occitan, so don't hesitate and join us! 😃
