Craving sunshine, cocktails, tapas, and a good run? 🏃♂️
Put on your sneakers and book your tickets to Malaga, one of the eight provinces of Andalusia where the average annual temperature is 18°C, boasting glorious sunshine for some 300 days a year! 😎 So, even if the marathon is in December, you'll enjoy a pleasant climate as you traverse the historic center and sandy expanses... Head to Spain 🇪🇸 to partake in a marathon that's sure to whet your appetite before the Christmas festivities: the Malaga Marathon (or Generali Maratón Málaga)! But not to worry, there's also a half-marathon 😉.
As a World Athletic Labelled event, it's considered one of the premier road races worldwide thanks to its beauty, organization quality, and the level of its athletes 😍. Clearly, the Malaga Marathon is a must-do for all sports enthusiasts who love urban and modern circuits, all within a relatively flat and high-performance-friendly course! 😌 Featuring two races, a 21 km and a 42 km, this competition combines comfort and self-improvement with a serene seaside view and impressive performers 🏋️. The bonus of this race is its charitable aspect: for each participant, €1 is donated to the Ochotumbao Foundation, which works to improve the lives of the underprivileged, animal protection, and environmental conservation across Spain 👏.
The grand course starts and finishes at the Paseo del Parque, a stunning avenue brimming with greenery where you'll run along the harbor for over 800 m ⚓️. This marks the beginning of an intense journey through an idyllic setting 😍. Along the way, you'll pass by a plethora of monuments and diverse landscapes, including the iconic Malagueta Bullring (inaugurated in the late 19th century) and the famous Plaza de la Merced, one of the city's most celebrated squares 💫. But wait! You'll have plenty of time to explore the city's most beautiful sights at the end, like the Levante Dam, stretching 1,235 m long! 😯
We know, the only way to keep going is by reminding yourself of the sweet reward at the end! 😅 And the capital of the Costa del Sol gets it! It offers a wide variety of culinary delights to tempt your taste buds 🤤. And since it's December, it's also Christmas! Take the opportunity to do some shopping at the iconic Marques de Larios, with its variety of stores, cafes, and famous lights 🤩.
So, all in all, a great way to end the year, right? 😏
