The event in a few words

Fancy some sun, cocktails, tapas, and running? 🏃‍♂️

Lace up your sneakers and book your tickets now to Malaga, one of the eight provinces of Andalusia where the annual average temperature is 18°, boasting sunshine about 300 days a year! 😎 So even though the marathon is in the middle of November, you will enjoy pleasant weather to stroll through the historic center and along the sandy stretches... Head to Spain 🇪🇸 to enjoy a marathon that will whet your appetite: the Malaga Marathon (or Generali Maratón Málaga)! But don't worry, there is also a half-marathon 😉. For the younger ones 👧, a Kids Run is also organized!

Labeled by World Athletics, the event is considered one of the main road races worldwide due to its beauty, the quality of its organization, and the level of its athletes 😍. You got it, the Malaga Marathon is a must for all athletes who love urban circuits and modern routes, all within a relatively flat course ideal for great performances 😌. With two races, a 21 km and a 42 km, the competition combines comfort and self-improvement with a peaceful seaside panorama and a high level of performers 🏋️. The bonus of this race is that it is solidary: one participant equals €1 donated to the Ochotumbao foundation, which improves living conditions for the most disadvantaged, animal protection, and environmental conservation throughout Spain 👏.

The grand loop will start and end at the Paseo del Parque, a breathtakingly green avenue where you'll skirt the port for over 800 m ⚓️. This will mark the beginning of an intense walk through an idyllic setting 😍. You'll then traverse a multitude of monuments and various landscapes, such as the mythical Malagueta bullring (inaugurated at the end of the 19th century) or the grand Plaza de la Merced, one of the city's most famous ✨. But wait! You'll have plenty of time to discover the city's most beautiful sites at the end, like the Levante Dam, stretching 1,235 m! 😯

As we know, the only way to make it to the end is to tell yourself that after effort comes comfort! 😅 And this, the capital of the Costa del Sol understands well! It offers a wide variety of culinary specialties all more tantalizing than the next 🤤. You can also enjoy the iconic Marques de Larios, with its various shops, cafes, and famous illuminations 🤩.

Anyway, a beautiful way to end the year, right? 😏

A few more words

You have an appointment for one of the last marathons in Spain of the year: Malaga! 😎

Starting from the Paseo del Parque, next to the Malaga Park 🌳, you will embark on 42 km of happiness and coolness! 🌡️ After a good warm-up among other runners, you'll need to keep your eyes wide open as many monuments will pass by! 👀 After a straight start in the shade of the trees, you will cross the Tetuan Bridge overlooking the Guadalmedina River 💦. You’ll make a small two-kilometer loop to get your legs going 🦵 and once on the Avenue de la Rosaleda, you’ll take the Misericordia Bridge. You will head straight to the Félix Fernandez Lopez de Uralde Gardens and go to Solidarity Square. You will then return to the docks and run along one of the city's main arteries to pass next to the Malaga Park again!

Once you have circled the Centre Pompidou, you will run to the end of the pier 🚤. We advise against making a dive at the end, the water temperature might not please you 🥶. About-turn, it's time to find some warmth by the beach! 🌞 You will run along the beach of Malagueta, Caleta, Carmen’s Baths, Pedregalejo, Acacias and finally the beach of El Palo 🏖️. No running on the sand, you will overlook the sea from the road!

Then you will take the same route in reverse to find the Malaga Park 🌱 again. You will return to the other bank and venture into a 4 km loop to the north. Martiricos Park, Football Museum and La Rosaleda Stadium 🏟️: football fans will be delighted! ⚽️ Back on the docks, you’ll begin your final loop 🔁, this time heading south. This time you will overlook the beaches of San Andres, Misericordia and Sacaba Beach and make a detour to the Malaga Stadium and the Sports Palace 💪. Only one last straight line remains before the finish, under the same arch that marked your start, Paseo del Parque! 🏁
