"Oh Marbella, you are bella como la papaya!" 🥭
Although in Marbella there’s no papaya, the Minions are absolutely right! 😂 The city in Andalusia, located between Malaga and Gibraltar, is a seaside resort with a special charm 🥰. But here, there’s no question of holidays ❌—you’ll have to admire the seafront scenery while running! 🏃➡️ What, nobody told you? 😱 At the end of September, you’re heading off to run the Marbella Half Marathon (well, the Sierra Blanca Estates Marbella Half Marathon by "RUN-On" is its real name 🤓)! Pack your bags and your sunscreen 🧴. Yes, yes, you read that right—it’ll still be hot in the south of Spain at that time of year! 🌞 Plenty of time to enjoy the Indian summer and make your colleagues jealous when you come back tanned more than a month after heading back to work! 😎
But watch out for swimsuit tan lines 😬, because with those distances, your time in the sun will be more than enough to give you cyclist-worthy tan marks 😅. On the menu: half marathon or 5 km! If you don’t feel ready to take on 21.097 km solo, you can bring two of your colleagues 🧑🤝🧑 to run as a relay! 🤝 And you know what they say: the more, the merrier! 😉 The route will be flat and along the Mediterranean 🌊, so you can really open up and try to smash your PB ⏱️. Prefer to take your time? We get it! 😉 The scenery will be simply magnificent 🤩: from the picturesque streets of the city center to stunning views of the big blue 🩵, not to mention a few luxury villas and yachts along the coast 💎. Between the sea, the mountains, and the on-site atmosphere 🎉, you won’t know where to look! 😜 But as Dory told us so well when we were kids: "Just keep swimming Just run straight ahead!" ➡️.
After crossing the finish line 🏁, how about diving into Andalusian culture? Visit the Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation or the Marbellan building. Both monuments are steeped in history! 📖 You can also stroll along the medieval walls that once sheltered the old Arab medina 🕌. Finally, a must-see to understand the influences of the Arab world on the city: the King Abdul Aziz Mosque, most often called the Grand Mosque of Marbella ☝️. You’re a curious soul and want to discover the region over a weekend? 🧳 Then drop your bags in Granada and explore the Alhambra or lounge on a deckchair on a terrace while enjoying authentic tapas in Malaga 🤤
Come on—join us, you too will be "bella like a papaya" at the Marbella Half! 🤗
The half marathon will take you along the promenade of Marbella, between the Mediterranean Sea 🌊 and the mountains ⛰️, surrounded by the luxury of Marbella✨.
