The event in a few words

"It’s 5 a.m., Paris is waking up …" 🎵 Oh no, the start is at 9 a.m.! 🕘

Paris, the City of Light, the city of love… 😍 The French capital, recognized worldwide as one of the most attractive cities, offers you in the month of October 🗓️ the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km de Paris, a road race with a cause that will let you reclaim the most beautiful corners of western Paris 🏛. This legendary race, created in 1979 by the partnership between the French Air Force and the City of Paris, will take place in the cool temperatures of early autumn 🍂. But don’t worry: with thousands of runners and its international flavor 🌍 (more than 10% of participants are foreign), the atmosphere will be there 👏. So come quickly and grab your bib, or you’ll be disappointed 😉.

Boasting international, national and silver athletics labels, the event offers just one distance that will satisfy everyone: a 20 km, on a very fast course 🚴🏼. This event, which can also be completed as a connected race ⌚️, comes with its own set of variations, with a 5 km, a 10 km and a 15 km, all also connected and to be completed over different periods. Watch out—personal records are going to fall ⏱️ ! And that way, no need to watch your feet 👣—you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the view, since the historic monuments will follow you throughout your race 🤩. The more, the merrier, which is why the organizers have set up children’s races 👦, with several routes reserved for little Finishers, who too can choose an event in person or connected 🐣.

Now for the course: you’ll have the chance to run on the right bank of the Seine in Paris and more specifically in the heart 💓 of western Paris, reserved for the occasion—and that doesn’t happen every day! The start will be at the iconic Pont de l'Iéna, with the Eiffel Tower behind you, before briefly running along the Seine quays to cool off 💦. The course highlights include passing by the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, which will be visible for much of your race and will also be the finish area 🏁. For green spaces 🍃, you’ll be well served with a good dose of chlorophyll. You’ll cover more than 4 kilometers inside the famous Bois de Boulogne, whose trees (mostly oaks 🌳) will replenish you with oxygen 🌬️. Tennis fans: a run along the Boulevard d’Auteuil, in front of the Roland-Garros complex, is also on the program—so you can pull off your best smash on the most famous clay courts in the Paris region 🎾.

More monuments, always monuments. You’ll run towards the Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde and its famous Obelisk, the Tuileries Garden and its magnificent fountains ⛲️, the Pont Royal that lives up to its name, and many more... We won’t reveal everything—we still want to keep a few surprises for you 🎁. It’s up to you to pound those famous Parisian cobblestones! A real concentration of Paris as we love it 😍. "Emily in Paris" can go get changed 😼.

As for organization and safety on the event site: no worries at all. You’ll be very well looked after by a well-oiled organizing team ⚙️ (like wine, the older the event gets, the better it is 🍷) and a significant security presence. What’s more, no need to elbow your way through in the first and last kilometers, thanks to a start divided into 23 waves setting off every 3 min. They’ve thought of everything! 🙏 You’ll also enjoy the cheerful atmosphere with musical entertainment 🎶 accompanying you all along the route 🥁. This race is also a chance to meet people, share your passion with other runners and maybe even make connections with partners 🤝. Indeed, over two days the organizers host a village welcoming more than 50 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors, all in a friendly, family atmosphere 🥰.

After all that effort, Paname will offer you a whole range of activities to do, alone or with others. This time, we won’t recommend the classic visits to the Louvre Museum or the Luxembourg Garden, but rather some unusual places in the capital 😜. We can notably suggest the Cathedral Building, located on Rue Réaumur, created during the first façade competition held in the 19th century. Another unusual spot: the Library of the National Institute of Art History or the House of Nicolas Flamel, the famous Parisian alchemist 🧪. When it comes to food, Paris is full of little brasseries, each more charming than the next, where you can enjoy a croque-monsieur or a delicious onion soup, and for dessert a Paris-Brest. 😋

Even better than a Neymar goal ⚽️, or a snapshot of the Mona Lisa 🖼, the Paris event is the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km de Paris 🤗.

5 reasons to join this race

The Eiffel Tower as the grand finale 😍
THE Paris monument will be visible throughout your race 😲. The start will set off from Pont de l'Iéna, right opposite the Esplanade du Trocadéro and therefore the Eiffel Tower, and the finish will be at its feet. Built in 1889, you’ll also be able to admire it as you stride along the Seine quays—so majestic and imposing. A privilege many will envy you for. Plenty to make some great Instagram posts 😉.
Exceptional monuments, but not only... 🏛
Aaaah Paris and its whole string of historic monuments 😍. A millennia-old city, it carries a rich history dating back centuries 😊. When you take part in the 20 km de Paris, you’ll have the chance to discover several of these exceptional landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Palais, etc... Iconic monuments of our beautiful country, which some come from all four corners of the globe to admire 🇫🇷. Lovers of wide green spaces and nature, the Bois de Boulogne will delight you and give you your daily dose of chlorophyll 🌳. A real breath of fresh air to finish in the best possible way.
A committed race 🙏
Pushing yourself to support a good cause is a gesture you’ll surely remember for a long time 💪. Indeed, the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km de Paris supports the association Le Bleuet de France 💙.
A festive gathering 🎉
The Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km de Paris is a sporting event, but also a human one 😊. The 25,000 runners present will have the chance to experience a particularly lively race, notably with musical entertainment all along the course, setting the rhythm for their strides 🎸. The 20 km de Paris is also a gathering of exhibitors and visitors who come to meet and share their experience and passion. So come and join the party too! 🥳
Connected editions outside the race 📱
We live in an era where everyone is connected; the organizers know it and are keeping up. That’s why they offer you a connected route you can complete anywhere in France, for those who won’t be in Paris on race day. All you need is a recording device such as a smartwatch or a tracking app on your smartphone, and start your race wherever you like ⌚️. Over the different periods, your performance will be automatically recorded in the real-time ranking. The organizers have thought of everything! 😜

A few more words

The 20 km de Paris route will have you running along the right bank of the capital 📍, and more specifically in west Paris ✌️. The organizers have put together a race that unfolds in three stages: first, a total immersion in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, before heading into the vast Bois de Boulogne, and finishing with a bang with a run back up the Seine riverbanks that will take you to the finish line.

The race will start on the Pont d'Iéna, where you'll head straight onto the Seine riverbanks for your first kilometer. You'll then climb up toward Place Charles de Gaulle (Place de l'Étoile), via Avenue Marceau, and the world-famous Arc de Triomphe ⭐️. Watch out for the false flat uphill, which will be the main challenge of the day. After a quick loop around the square, head west with a descent down Avenue Foch.

Now it's time for the nature section of the course, with an immersion in the Bois de Boulogne starting at the 4th kilometer 🌳. You'll run along Allée de Longchamp and Allée de la Reine-Marguerite to reach the first of the three planned aid stations. After that comes Boulevard d'Auteuil, well known for hosting Roland Garros every year 🎾. During the 9th kilometer, you'll go through Porte Molitor and Place de la Porte de Saint-Cloud, the location of the second aid station.

Then it's back onto the Seine riverbanks, which you won't leave again until the finish line that awaits you 😉. You'll pass the Maison de la Radio at the 13th kilometer, and the last aid station will be offered to you at the 14th kilometer. Those will be the last supplies available, so take precautions! Then head toward the Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde and the Jardin des Tuileries 😍. Just that! You thought it was over? Well, no—turnaround! You'll cross the Seine via the Pont Royal 👑, but you'll stay on its riverbanks, on the left bank side, which you won't leave again. You'll be able to spot the Musée du Quai Branly, before arriving at the foot of the Eiffel Tower! 🏁
