"It's 5 o'clock, Paris is waking up…" 🎵 Oh no, the start is at 9 o'clock! 🕘
Paris, the city of light, the city of love… 😍 The capital of France, globally recognized as one of the most attractive cities, offers you in the month of October 🗓️, the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km of Paris, an road race committed to allowing you to reclaim the most beautiful parts of the West of Paris 🏛. This mythical race, created in 1979 by the partnership between the French Air Force and the City of Paris, will take place under the cool temperatures of early autumn 🍂. But rest assured, with thousands of runners and its international aspect 🌍 (more than 10% of foreigners participate) the atmosphere will be vibrant 👏. So hurry up and get your race bib, or risk being disappointed 😉.
Crowned with international, national, and silver athletics labels, the event offers a single distance that will suit everyone: a 20 km, on a very fast course 🚴🏼. This race can also be completed as a connected race ⌚️, with its own variations, including a 5 km, a 10 km and a 15 km, all also connected and to be completed over different periods. Beware, personal records will be broken ⏱️! And with this, there's no need to watch your feet 👣, you will have all the leisure to enjoy the view, as the historic monuments will follow you throughout your run 🤩. The more the merrier, so that's why the organizers have set up kids' races 👦, with several courses reserved for young Finishers, who can also choose a face-to-face or connected event 🐣.
Now for the course: you will have the chance to run in the Paris Right Bank of the Seine and especially in the heart 💓 of Western Paris, privatized for the occasion, and this doesn't happen every day! The start will be at the legendary Pont de l'Iéna, the Eiffel Tower behind you, before briefly running along the banks of the Seine, to get a refresh 💦. The highlights of the course include passing by the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, which will be visible for a large part of your run, in addition to being the finish line 🏁. For green spaces 🍃, you'll be served with a good dose of chlorophyll. You will cover over 4 kilometers within the famous Bois de Boulogne, where the majority of oak trees 🌳 will replenish you with oxygen 🌬️. Tennis enthusiasts, a tour on the Boulevard d’Auteuil, in front of the Roland-Garros site is also on the program, so you can make your best smash on the most famous of Île-de-France clay courts 🎾.
More monuments, always more monuments. You will run towards the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and its famous Obelisk, the Jardin des Tuileries and its magnificent fountains ⛲️, the Pont Royal aptly named and many others... We won't reveal everything to keep some surprises for you 🎁. It's up to you to tread the famous Parisian cobbles! A true essence of Paris we all love 😍. "Emily in Paris" has nothing on this 😼.
Regarding the organization and security on-site, there's nothing to worry about. You will be well supervised by a seasoned organizing team ⚙️ (like wine, the older the event, the better it is 🍷) and a significant security service. Plus, no need to elbow in the first and last kilometers, thanks to a start divided into 23 waves launching every 3 minutes. They've thought of everything! 🙏 You will also enjoy the cheerful atmosphere with musical entertainment 🎶 accompanying you throughout the course 🥁. This race is also an opportunity to make connections, to share your passion with other runners, and why not create contacts with partners 🤝. Indeed, the organizers offer over two days, a village hosting more than 50 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors, all in a friendly and easygoing atmosphere 🥰.
After all these efforts, Paname offers you a variety of activities to do alone or with others. This time, we won't suggest the classic visits to the Louvre Museum or the Luxembourg Garden, but rather unusual places in the capital 😜. We can particularly recommend the Cathedral Building, located on Rue Réaumur, built during the first facade competition of the 19th century. Another unusual place, the Library of the National Institute of Art History or the House of Nicolas Flamel, the famous Parisian alchemist 🧪. In terms of gastronomy, the Parisian capital is full of charming little brasseries, perfect for enjoying a croque-monsieur, a delicious onion soup, and for dessert, a Paris-Brest. 😋
Even better than a Neymar goal ⚽️, or a shot of Mona Lisa 🖼, the Parisian event is the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km of Paris 🤗.
The route of the 20 km of Paris will have you running on the right bank of the capital 📍, more specifically in the western part of Paris ✌️. The organizers have planned a race for you, broken down into three parts: first, a complete immersion within the 16th arrondissement of Paris, then heading to the vastness of the Bois de Boulogne, and finishing with a fast dash along the quays of the Seine that will take you to the finish line.
The race will start on the Pont de l'Iéna, where you'll join the Quays of the Seine for your first kilometer. You'll then head towards the Place Charles de Gaulle (Place de l'Étoile), via Avenue Marceau, and the well-known Arc de Triomphe ⭐️. Watch out for the uphill slope, which will be the main challenge of the day. After a small tour around the place, head west with a descent along Avenue Foch.
Now comes the nature part of the route, with an immersion in the Bois de Boulogne starting from the 4th kilometer of the race 🌳. You'll tread on the Allée de Longchamp and the Reine-Marguerite's alley to reach the first of three planned refreshment points. Later, it will be the Boulevard d'Auteuil, well-known for hosting Roland Garros each year 🎾. During the 9th kilometer of the race, you'll use the Porte Molitor and the Place de la Porte de Saint Cloud, the site of the second refreshment point.
Then it's a return to the Quays of the Seine that you will not leave until you reach the finish line 😉. You'll pass the Maison de la Radio at the 13th kilometer, and the last refreshment will be offered at the 14th kilometer. These will be the last resources available, so take your precautions! Then head to the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and the Jardin des Tuileries 😍. Just like that! Thought you were done? Well, no, it's a U-turn! You'll cross the Seine via the Pont Royal 👑, but you'll stay on its quays, on the left bank, which you will not leave again. You'll have the chance to see the Musée du Quai Branly, before reaching your finish line at the foot of the Eiffel Tower! 🏁
