"It is 5am, Paris awakens..." 🎵 Oh no, the start is at 9am! 🕘
Paris, city of lights, city of love... 😍 The French capital globally recognized as one of the most attractive cities, offers you in the month of October 🗓️, the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km of Paris, an engaged road race that allows you to reclaim the most beautiful spots in Western Paris 🏛. This legendary race, created in 1979 by the association between the Air Force and the Paris City Hall, will take place under the cool temperatures of early fall 🍂. But rest assured, with thousands of runners and its international aspect 🌍 (over 10% are foreigners) the atmosphere will be present 👏. So come quickly get your bib, not to be disappointed 😉.
Awarded with international labels, national and silver athletics, the event offers one distance everyone will agree on: a 20 km, on a very smooth course 🚴🏼. This race, which can also be completed as a connected race ⌚️, comes with several variations, including a 5 km, a 10 km, and a 15 km, all also connected and to be completed at different times. Be aware, personal records are going to fall ⏱️! And this way, you won't have to look at your feet 👣, you will be able to enjoy the view, as much as the historical monuments follow you throughout your race 🤩. The more people there are, the more fun we have, which is why the organizers have set up kids races 👦, with multiple courses reserved for little Finishers, who can also choose a in-person or connected event 🐣.
Now for the course: you will have the chance to run in Paris Right Bank of the Seine and particularly in the heart 💓 of Western Paris, privatized for the occasion, and that doesn't happen every day! The start will take place at the iconic Pont de l'Iéna, with the Eiffel Tower at your back, before briefly skirting the quays of the Seine for a cool refreshment 💦. The highlights of the route include passages by the Arc de Triomphe, and by the Eiffel Tower, which will be visible for a large part of your race, in addition to being the finish line venue 🏁. As for green spaces 🍃, you’re served with a good dose of chlorophyll. You will cover more than 4 kilometers within the famous Bois de Boulogne whose trees (mostly oaks 🌳) will refresh you with oxygen 🌬️. Tennis enthusiasts, a round on the Boulevard d’Auteuil, in front of the Roland-Garros site is also on the agenda, so you can perform your best smash on the most famous clay courts in Île-de-France 🎾.
Still more monuments, always more monuments. You will run towards the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and its famous Obelisk, the Jardin des Tuileries and its magnificent fountains ⛲️, the Pont Royal which so aptly named, and many more... We won't reveal everything to keep some surprises for you 🎁. It's up to you to beat the famous Parisian cobblestones! A real sample of Paris as we love it 😍. "Emily in Paris" can move over 😼.
Regarding organization and safety on the event site, no worries. You will be well taken care of by a well-seasoned organizing team ⚙️ (like wine, the older the event, the better it is 🍷) and a large security service. Plus, no need to elbow your way in the first and last kilometers, thanks to a start divided into 23 waves launching every 3 min. They've thought of everything! 🙏 You'll also enjoy the cheerful atmosphere with musical entertainment 🎶 accompanying you throughout the course 🥁. This race is also an opportunity to make new friends, share your passion with other runners, and perhaps create contacts with partners 🤝. Indeed, the organizers offer, over two days, a village hosting more than 50 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors, all in a friendly and good-spirited atmosphere 🥰.
After all the hard work, Paname offers you a range of activities to do, alone or with others. This time, we won't recommend the classics like Louvre Museum or Jardin du Luxembourg to visit, but rather unusual places in the capital 😜. We can suggest you the Impressive Cathedral Building, located on Rue Réaumur, created during the first facade competition held in the 19th century. Another unusual spot is the Library of the National Institute of Art History or the House of Nicolas Flamel, a famous Parisian alchemist 🧪. On the gastronomy side, Paris is full of little bistros each more charming than the last, where you can enjoy a croque-monsieur, or a delicious onion soup and for dessert a Paris-Brest. 😋
Even better than a Neymar goal ⚽️, or a photo of Mona Lisa 🖼, the Parisian event is the Harmonie Mutuelle 20 km of Paris 🤗.
The route of the 20 km of Paris will have you running on the right bank of the capital city 📍, and more specifically in the western part of Paris ✌️. The organizers have prepared a race divided in three parts: first, a total immersion within the 16th arrondissement of Paris, then you'll join the vastness of the Bois de Boulogne, finishing quickly by a climb up the quays of the Seine allowing you to reach the finish line.
The race will start on the Pont de l'Iéna, where you will head directly to the Quais de Seine for your first kilometer. You will then climb towards the Place Charles de Gaulle (Place de l'Étoile), via Avenue Marceau, and the well-known Arc de Triomphe ⭐️. Be careful of the false uphill, which will be the main challenge of the day. After a quick loop around the place, head west, descending via Avenue Foch.
Now onto the nature moment of the course, with an immersion into the Bois de Boulogne starting at the 4th kilometer of the race 🌳. You will tread along Allée de Longchamp and Reine-Marguerite to reach the first of the three scheduled refreshment points. Then it will be the Boulevard d'Auteuil, well-known for hosting Roland Garros each year 🎾. During the 9th kilometer of the race, you will go through Porte Molitor and the Place de la Porte de Saint Cloud, the location of the second refreshment point.
Then it's a return to the Quais de Seine that you will stay on until the finish line beckons you 😉. You will pass in front of the Maison de la Radio at the 13th kilometer, and the last refreshment point will be at the 14th kilometer. These will be the last resources offered, so take precautions! Then head towards the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and the Jardin des Tuileries 😍. That's all! You thought it was over? Well, no, halfway back! You'll cross the Seine via the Pont Royal 👑, but you will stay on its quays, the left bank, which you will no longer leave. You will then be able to see the Musée du Quai Branly, before your finish at the foot of the Eiffel Tower! 🏁
