Running a marathon is good. Earning your finisher spot in the heart of one of the most vibrant and historic cities in Poland is honestly another level! 🏃♂️
In the middle of October, the city of Poznań, located in the Greater Poland region, is getting ready to thrill running enthusiasts with its traditional Poznań Marathon 🤩. If you’re looking for a legendary, ultra-fast event certified by the biggest international bodies such as World Athletics and AIMS, you’ve come to the right place 😎. Here, the profile is flat as a pancake, designed exclusively for time chasers and personal-record hunters ⏱️. It’s time to lace up your best running shoes, sharpen your stride, and get ready for a totally electrifying atmosphere at the 25th edition, which will carry you from kilometer 1 to kilometer 42 ⚡️. We’re not talking about just any marathon: the Poznań Marathon has the honor of being part of the prestigious Złota Seria 42, the elite trio of Poland’s biggest marathons alongside Warsaw and Krakow! 😍
For this great autumn celebration of the queen distance 👸, the organizers don’t do things by halves and offer a particularly fast 42.195 km course. The big start sets off from the iconic site of the Poznań International Fair (MTP), a place steeped in history that turns into an enormous race village for the occasion 🤯. The "Poznań Five", a short 5 km race, also lets you enjoy the city at full speed 🏙️. From the starting gun, it’s full throttle! You’ll cross major avenues and lush green parks, passing near the magnificent Malta Lake, a spot locals love for water sports and relaxing 🌊. The atmosphere along the roads is known for being incredibly warm 🎉, with bands and passionate supporters packed behind the barriers chanting your name 🗣️. Children will also be part of the weekend, with races reserved for them the day before the marathon 👧.
Once you’ve collected your medal and savored your finisher achievement 🥇, there’s no question of heading straight to bed, even if your legs are feeling it! The Polish city is full of treasures that are well worth extending the weekend for 📆. You’ll love strolling through the colorful lanes of the Old Market (Stary Rynek) to admire the Renaissance façades 😮. If your timing is right, make sure you’re in front of the town hall at exactly noon to watch the famous metal goats butt heads at the top of the tower—an unmissable local curiosity 🐐. To recharge and stock up on carbs after such an effort, we recommend trying the famous St. Martin’s croissant (Rogal Świętomarciński), an ultra-indulgent local pastry filled with white poppy seeds and nuts 🥐. Pair it with a good local craft beer in one of the many trendy pubs downtown, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a memorable running getaway 🥰.
Strike a poz before giving it your all on the asphalt! 🤓
