Want a marathon in Central Europe? 🧐 Bingo!
It's in Poland 🇵🇱 that the Cracovia Marathon, aka the Krakow Marathon has become THE reference in the country for the queen distance 👸 of running 🏃♂️! It's even considered one of the most prestigious in Europe 🤩, being part of the famous "Crown of Polish Marathons" 👑 and the "Gold Series 42" circuit, along with the marathons of Warsaw and Poznan! Running in Krakow takes you to a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978👩🏫. This experience will immerse you in its authentic history and its borderless culture 🎞️. The slogan of the Krakow Marathon speaks volumes about its richness: running "through history" 📚.
During the course, you will have the opportunity to pass by old, iconic buildings of the city 🏙️. For example, you'll have the chance to pass by the Wawel Castle 🏰, the Cloth Hall, or the St. Mary's Basilica ⛪. Krakow doesn't have only old monuments; you'll also have the opportunity to pass by more modern buildings. You'll encounter the TAURON Arena Kraków, the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, and the Father Bernatek Footbridge (Father Ojca Bernatka) which you'll cross 😌. The start and finish lines are at the Krakow Market Square (Rynek Główny), in the heart of the city's historic center. Signing up for this marathon is also taking advantage of the banks of the Vistula. This river will accompany you for a large part of the race 🐉. Like a little good luck charm! 🍀 Nearly 15 km along the banks of this beautiful Polish river await you! 💧 Don't worry, every 5 km, you'll find refreshment points with water.
Every year, since its creation in 2002, nearly 7,000 participants come from all over the world to run 🏃 or attend the Krakow Marathon 📆. Previous editions have gathered 70 different countries, making Krakow host to one of the most multinational marathons! 🌍 That's the reputation and impact of this event! 🤯 If you find running a marathon too boring 🥱, you might be tempted by other races! The "Mini Cracovia Marathon" of 4.2 km for those who don't want to push themselves but want to commemorate the only Pole who won the Krakow Marathon 🏆. For the more nocturnal types 🦉, since 2018, there is a 10 km, named in 2023 the "European Games Night Run" 🔦. It is organized on Saturday evening, and the start and finish are at the same place as the 42 km 🏁. Alongside running, you can do the marathon in skating ⛸️: the "Cracovia Inline Skating Marathon".
In 2022, the Polish Marathon joined the campaign "Krakow in a good climate". The organizer, in collaboration with the former capital, offers solutions to take care of the environment 🩹. For now, several actions are implemented! If you decide to buy a t-shirt 👕 to wear during your run, it will be made from recycled materials 🤓. Plastic has been removed from packaging, but the tableware is eco-friendly and recyclable ♻️.
Do zobaczenia w dniu startu? 😉 🇵🇱 Oh yes, sorry, we're not there yet! We meant: "See you on the race day"! ✌️
