… like the plague! 😅 On the contrary, it's actually a must-attend running event!
The 40th edition of the Budapest Marathon will take place in October in the capital of Hungary 🇭🇺. The historic city invites you to discover its rich heritage 🕍 while running along the banks of the Danube! 🌊 The famous river will be the center of attention during these two days... Yes, two days, you read that right! It's a genuine festival 🎉 around running that awaits you at this gathering of athletes from around the world 🌍. With about 30,000 runners present, you'll celebrate your passion 🫶 in style thanks to the numerous activities and other concerts 🎺 along the courses! 😎 As for the Danube, it will be your companion throughout your run 🏃, no matter the distance you choose. You'll dream of diving into it once your race is over! 😂 In fact, if you don't feel like sweating it out 🥵, you can choose a shorter distance than the 42 km 🤓.
In total, there are 9 different formats offered: the marathon, the 30 km, the half marathon, the 14 km, the 10 km, the 5 km, and the Fun Run of 2.3 km. But wait... You won't believe your ears! 👂 That's not all: the marathon can be run solo or in relay with 2 or 4 🤝. One last bit of good news for runners who want more: you can register for a challenge (the Spar 10 + 5 km)! 🤯 And for the beginners in running, there is the Fun Run of 2.3 km 🤪. Everyone finds happiness! 😁 To give you a bit more insight into what's in store, know that this marathon will be similar to all other major races that take place in capitals 🤩. Cities, while they are often given many faults ❌, are also dynamic places 💃, full of history 📚, opportunity, and cultural and artistic frenzy 🎨. So, you'll imagine that many exceptional monuments 🗽 will be along your way! Among the most notable ✨, there will be: the Buda Castle 🏰, the Hungarian Parliament 🏛️, the Gellért Hill 🗻, and Margaret Island 🗾. Your strides will take you across several emblematic bridges 🌉 of the "jewel" of the Danube and to admire the Pest panorama 😍.
Going to Budapest is also about discovering a different culture, and this includes tasting the many culinary specialties 😋. We know you're a little foodie, so we’ve prepared a little list of dishes not to miss under any circumstances 🤤: goulash, lángos, and foie gras! 🦆 Yes, you may not know, but foie gras has been a Hungarian specialty for many centuries 🙃. However, it is enjoyed differently than in France, which will give you a new perspective on this highly coveted product 😌. And if you have a little room left for dessert, how about a kürtőskalács (bless you 🤧), also known as the "chimney cake" ! This specialty is an unmissable treat of the city and you can't pass it up 😆.
So, are you really going to pass up the chance to run in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe… Igen? 🤨
