Trail des Hauts Forts 2026

Do you want to surpass yourself, enjoy the mountain air, and admire a breathtaking view? 🤩

Then quickly come to Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, not far from the Swiss border! 🇨🇭 For those who fear the cold, don't worry: the Trail des Hauts Forts takes place in August, with stages as sharp as the schabziger cheese of our cross-border neighbors! It doesn’t smell like roses... 🥴

The races on the program start in Morzine and end in Avoriaz, two renowned winter sports stations in the heart of the Chablais massif ⛷. Four events are offered to you, and you'll feel an adrenaline rush just by reading the list. You can indeed set off on the 23 km of the Trail des Mines d'Or with its 1850 mD+, or on the Trail du Fornet, 2820 mD+ over 36 km. Still remaining for the thrill-seekers are the Trail des Hauts Forts and the Relais des Contrebandiers, each 52 km but with different elevations: 3820 mD+ for the first and for the second 1805 mD+ over 25.5 km then 2015 mD+ 📈.

You've understood, the courses are technical and demanding with significant elevation changes. If you want to push your limits, you're in the right place! You know, in the mountains, efforts are rewarded by sensational views. There is so much to admire in this area of the Alps, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc 🗻! You will wind through beautiful trails all around the summit of the Hauts Forts up to its highest point in the Chablais and the Portes du Soleil. By the way, les Portes du Soleil, what is it? Well, nothing less than one of the largest ski areas in the world with over 650 km of trails spread across 12 stations, straddling France and Switzerland 🎿.

Along the passes and summits, you will be able to marvel at the Pléney ridges, the Pointe de Nyon, the Vallée de la Manche or even the magnificent Lac des Mines d'Or to finish in a super friendly atmosphere in Avoriaz. Its wooden buildings give the station a very particular architecture, in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Plus, cars are prohibited, you can move around easily on skis, by foot or even by sled! 🛷

All these escapades at the Morzine trail make your head spin, right? Fortunately, there’s plenty to refuel in Haute-Savoie with the Savoyard soup (summer or winter, it always works)! For cheese lovers, we have among others the reblochon, the beaufort and Abondance, a real treasure of the area 🧀.
