The event in a few words

A trail in the forests of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté does that appeal to you? 🌳 Come join us to prepare for your next March weekend 🌷. The association "Les Escargots21" is organizing the Trail du Tacot 🐌, in Gevrey-Chambertin, right in the heart of Côte-d'Or ⭐️. All right, so it was created by "the Escargots" but we're counting on you to run like a hare 🐇 on these trails. Speaking of which, they have planned 2 routes 🏞️, well, in total 3 starts, including a walk 🚶. You have the choice between a 19 km trail, or a 12 km one. For those who really want to move at a snail's pace, you can also join the 12 km start by walking! 🙂

As we told you, with two different routes, you can make the most sensible choice 😌. To help you a little, we will introduce them better 🎤. The 19 km route, is actually more like 18.6 km and totals 480 mD+ 📈. During your strides, you will wander through the Forest and Lawn Habitats of the Dijon Coast Combes 🌲, and also next to the Combe Lavaux-Jean Roland nature reserve in the Chamboeuf forest 🔥. Wow, those are quite the places 😵‍💫. As for the 12 km, or rather, 12.6 km, with around 330 mD+, you will complete a loop south of Gevrey-Chambertin ⬇️, in the Forest and Lawn Habitats... We're not going to repeat the name, but in any case, you will be in the middle of the region 📍. And let's remind you, this route, you can do it running, but also walking! 😁 In any case, you will have a beautiful landscape and some kilometers under your belt 🐾. But it's up to you to choose if you prefer to finish breathless 💨, or rather calm 🧘.

South of Dijon, in eastern France 🇫🇷, we assure you that your weekend won't just be about this race 🏃. In Gevrey-Chambertin itself, the city's famous vineyards are an experience to live 🍇, continue your discovery at the chateau 🏰 and at the Saint Augan church. As we mentioned, Dijon is not far from there 😉. Buckle up, you will have only 27 minutes north ⬆️, to reach your destination 🚗. Once parked, parks, the museum of Fine Arts, the Notre-Dame Church 🏛️, yes, yes, you're in Dijon, not Paris, even though you might confuse them with these places 🤣. And then, you can also treat yourself to a good baguette with a piece of epoisses 🧀. We don't guarantee good breath 🤢, but if you love cheese you'll overlook it... 🙈 Oh, and obviously, a beef bourguignon, is best enjoyed in the home region 🥘.

So, ready to tacot with your friends during a great trail? ⛰️

4 reasons to join this race

A region of historic vineyards 🍇
We know perfectly well that in Burgundy, there are vineyards galore 😵‍💫. The Gevrey-Chambertin vineyard is listed as part of the Burgundy vineyard Climates on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2015 😳. It's quite a prestigious title! So here's a tip: go see it and go visit it 😁. But remember that alcohol is to be consumed in moderation ⚠️.
Discovering a Cluniac site 🏛️
Since 2005, the town of Gevrey-Chambertin has joined the federation of Cluniac sites 📍. Well, we suspect you might not know what that is 🙂. Basically, these are places (churches, monasteries...) that depended on, or were influenced by, the order of Cluny (a powerful religious center founded in 910) 🏰. Its network included thousands of dependencies throughout Europe 🇪🇺. The sites were important in the reform of the Church, the development of Romanesque art, and medieval cultural life 💒.
Sure to be sociable and friendly 🍾
With an early morning rendezvous, it's best to have a warm welcome 💝. For this trail, we promise you'll be thrilled upon your arrival. From the morning, coffee and cakes will be offered ☕️, to ensure a cracking start 🏃. For the rest of the race, don't worry, the refreshments will be well stocked with warm welcomes 🥳.
A trail, yes, but not only 😉
Already promising you a warm and friendly welcome, that's not all 😆. First of all, the refreshments will be plentiful, with good local products 😋. At the finish line, there will also be a food truck, so you can have a meal to help you recover 🍟. And to top it all, a French massage school will be present to give you a proper massage after this great effort! 💆‍♀️

A few more words

For this trail in the wild 🌲, it will be a guaranteed immersion. Starting from Gevrey-Chambertin, you'll head towards the southwest of the city 🏙️, at the center of the Forest and Meadow Areas of the Combes of the Côte Dijonnaise 🌳. If you're a bit lucky, the weather will be on your side ☀️ and you might catch a glimpse of the Alps on your route! 🗻 After a beautiful passage towards the west of the forest, you will move up north ⬆️ at km 7 towards two other places: the Domaniale Forest of Chamboeuf and the Communal Forest of Chamboeuf 🏞️.

After these two woods, at km 9 you will continue to ascend, to loop around the surroundings of the Combes Lavaux - Jean Roland natural reserve 💝. At km 12, the north ends and we head back towards the starting town 🔄. The forest, that's enough, so at km 17 you find yourself among fields and vineyards, for 2 km 🍇. After 18.6 km, the loop is completed, and now we'll let you recover and enjoy! 😉
