The event in a few words

Face-to-face with the wild nature! 🌱

Put on your finest swim cap, adjust your goggles, and get ready for an extraordinary experience in Brittany! 🥞 It’s in the month of September that the Troll enez swminrun is waiting for you in the magnificent département of Morbihan 🗺️. An evocative name that literally means “little sea” in the Breton language 🤓. Don’t be fooled by that slightly reductive qualifier: this majestic body of water spanning 11,500 hectares proudly belongs to the very select club of “the most beautiful bays in the world,” holding its own without blushing against Ha Long Bay in Vietnam.

No more fooling around in the start pen, since the event hosts the final of the French Championships 🇫🇷 in swimrun ! To triumph and hope to win, you’ll need to form a tight-knit duo 🔗. A true two-person adventure awaits you— a wild odyssey from island to island where solidarity, managing shared effort, and team chemistry will be your best weapons to outsmart the traps of the stopwatch 😈. Course-wise, you’re in for 41 km of trail and 9 km of swimming in the gulf 🌊. That’s a hefty total of 50 km of swimrun to chew through 🥵. The overall profile features low elevation gain, but don’t pop the champagne too quickly, because the route is still wearing and leg-breaking due to the constant surges 💨. Each year, the organizers adjust the course to the millimeter depending on tidal coefficients and tide times 🕞. It’s nature that lays down the law—and always has the final say! 🦈

The running sections go over every terrain imaginable: tarmac, hard sand, soft sand that sets your calves on fire, slippery rock, tricky roots, grass, narrow and technical paths, wide avenues, stone, wood, or dirt steps... In short, a non-stop sequence that will seriously rattle your joints and throw off your rhythm 🎢. As for the water sections, they’re not there for you to play Brice de Nice 🏄‍♂️. They’re what connect the islands and the mainland 😍. With water fluctuating between 16°C and 19°C at this time of year, combined with shifting currents, tides, and wind, some crossings promise to be especially committed and unforgettable 🔱. You’ll pass local gems like the Île d’Arz, Gavrinis, Berder, and countless wild islets 🏝️. Above all, you’ll have the privilege of setting foot on the largest of them: the Île aux Moines, nicknamed “the pearl of the gulf” 🦪. It cultivates its uniqueness with its original shape, its flower-lined lanes, and its very special atmosphere that guarantees a total change of scenery 🌸.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line with your precious partner and the final whistle has blown, the journey doesn’t stop there 🏁. What to do after the race to soothe your aching muscles 🧐? Brittany isn’t just about sporting feats and salty challenges 🌊. We strongly encourage you to extend your stay to explore on dry land 🧭. The gulf offers more than 180 km of continuous, waymarked coastal trails that get you moving from Arzon to Locmariaquer 📍. You’ll stroll through little lanes and congratulate competitors you bump into around a harbor ⚓. To recharge your batteries and validate your post-effort carb loading, treat yourself to a well-deserved gourmet break 🥞. A good local table, a properly buttered full galette, and a bowl of artisanal cider will work miracles on your tired legs 🍾. That’s also the magic of Morbihan’s local terroir 🦪!

We’ve got a salty tip for you: sign up quickly! 💡
