"Troyes, two, one... Go!" 🏃
In the heart of Aube, in the Grand Est region, a new edition of the Troyes Half-Marathon is setting up to get your calves burning 🥵. The event returns in mid-May for a 31st historic edition blending intense effort and sports spectacle 🎭. On the practice side, you have a choice between two iconic distances: the 10 km or the 21 km. With over 5,000 participants expected, the atmosphere promises to be festive and electric ⚡️. But the height of it is that this year, the Aube prefecture, which has seen a succession of historic events, is also hosting on the same weekend the French 10 km Championships 🇫🇷. The best runners in the discipline will thus make their way to the site to defend or attempt to win the title 🏅. Suffice to say the course running through the city will be flat and fast 🏎️. This weekend, you can quietly aim for your new PR while observing and learning from the national giants 🤩.
On site, you'll be running in the "Champagne Cork". No, it doesn't involve slaloming between sparkling wine bottles! 🤣 This nickname, given to the city of Troyes stems from the fact that, when seen from above, its historic center exactly resembles a champagne cork 🍾. So, you may not realize it from ground level, but you'll indeed circumnavigate this area 🔄. If you decide to line up for the half-marathon and its 21.0975 km, you're set for two loops ✌️. The elevation, as close as possible to 0 mD+ allows you to focus solely on managing your effort. You'll cross the Seine on your route, but don't spend too much time admiring it, watches wait for no one 😳. In the "10 km Open", you'll complete just one loop, again with as low an elevation as possible 😮💨. We're here to break records, not to climb mountains! To ensure everyone can participate, two final formats are offered: a "corporate challenge" and a "youth race". Say goodbye to boring seminars 🧔♂️, this is where your next sporty team building starts 🥸. The "youth race" opens to children aged 7 to 11, to get a taste of competition and test themselves on a fun kilometer 🤘. Indeed, Troyes is likely to become the prey of time chasers ⏱️.
In town, a medieval film set awaits you 🏰: you'll encounter timber-framed and half-timbered houses that will transport you back in time ⌛️. You'll almost expect D'Artagnan or Aramis to appear around any cobbled street corner 👀. The exceptional monuments are not lacking either: 42 buildings are protected as historical monuments 🏛️. Once the race is over, take the opportunity to discover these architectures from inside and learn more through the city's guided tours 📣. If you're more interested in local crafts, seek out the local shops 🏬: Troyes is the historical capital of knitwear and you should find more than one article that suits you 🛍️. Still on local specialties, you can also rely on Andouillette de Troyes AAAAA (and no, that's not a typo ✍️). A non-historical but culinary monument this time 🤤, which we advise you to savor post-race rather than at the start line 😅. And for post-race recovery, you can go for a stroll or set up your picnic blanket in the Orient Forest Regional Natural Park 🌳. The tranquil lakes and the nature you'll see there will provide a stark contrast to the intense and bustling energy of the many runners on the course 🔥.
Quickly grab your spot and in a flash, you'll be at the starting line 🤪.
The Semi de Troyes is the flagship race of the event! So, Troyes—ready, set… let’s go 💥.
The start will be at the Parc des Expositions Le Cube. You’ll head straight out, cross the Pont de Prévost, and run alongside the Seine 💦. After a short detour via the Avenue du 1er Mai, you’ll reach Boulevard Danton to turn around and meet the stage Seine once again. Enjoy a live music break at km 5 before heading toward the swimming pool 🎶. You’ll pass the prefecture building, switch riverbanks, and come back down Boulevard du 14 juillet 🏃♂️.
Then it’s off for another lap—slightly longer this time 🤓. The base loop stays the same, but you’ll add three extra detours: a loop around Le Cube (the expo center), a 2 km loop near the ice rink and the bowling alley, and a final loop around the Argouin and Aube stadiums. After all those kilometers, you’ll simply follow the first loop again to make your way back to the finish at Le Cube! 🟫
The "youth race" consists of a course about 1 km long.
A single loop of pure joy through the pedestrian streets of the city center. No need for a smartwatch here ⌚️, the winner will be the first to reach the refreshment station. With elevation close to 0 mD+, it'll be a fast race 🧒.
Please note, only youngsters aged 7 to 11 can line up at the start 🏁.
