Today we cross the Atlantic Ocean to head to Canada! 🇨🇦 The Gaspésie, this wild and majestic peninsula located to the east of Quebec, is not just a paradise for nature lovers 🌳, but also for trail enthusiasts. What a playground! The Ultra Trail Gaspésia 100 is much more than a race: it’s a total immersion between sea and mountain. Put on your trail shoes 🏔️, you're about to embark on an unforgettable experience 🏃♂️ !
It’s on the territory of Percé in Canada that this extraordinary race takes place 💪. A true adventure in an idyllic setting. The race offers a wide range of distances, enough to get lost even before signing up 😅! Ultra-trail distances, stage races over 3 days, more classic trail routes... 👌 There’s something for everyone! For the most seasoned runners, the ultimate challenge remains the 100 miles (165 km), a demanding course that tests both mental and physical resilience 🥵. But rest assured, the organizers also offer more accessible distances, like the 55 km, 21 km, or 10 km, open to all levels 🤠. Enough to enjoy the scenery without rushing. After all, you crossed the ocean to enjoy it, right? 🌊 It’s in this breathtaking setting, between the peaks of the Appalachians and the shores of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, that the Ultra Trail Gaspésia 100 takes place. Besides the stunning landscapes, the UTG100 is also a celebration 🎊. The atmosphere is friendly, warm, and festive, with a great community of runners and volunteers. An event celebrating its 11th anniversary this year! 🎁
For a decade, the UTG100 has become a must in the world of trail running 🏃♀️. The race is classified among UTMB events, a global reference standard 🎽. This recognition places the UTG100 among the most respected and sought-after races by trail runners worldwide 🕺. Once you cross the finish line, we count on you and your loved ones to enjoy everything Quebec has to offer in this region 🤩. You can plan to enjoy the Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé National Park 🌿, which you will have already encountered during the race. This time, you can observe with a little more calm the gannets, these majestic birds 🐦 that nest on the cliffs. The Appalachian trails will offer more to hiking enthusiasts with superb panoramas (if you still want more) 😎. If you want to add a pinch of culture to your trip, head to Percé, a village where history and local traditions are very present 🤟. Foodies can book a table! Gaspésie is renowned for its seafood, its cheeses! 🤤
So don't waste your time and join the starting line! 😉
This "UTG100 - 160" starts at Fishermen's Harbour, a small cove located 6 kilometers north of Percé.
A departure in a picturesque place, you will be able to see for yourself. Enough to feel like Robinson Crusoe, but no time to fish 🎣. After several kilometers along the water's edge on the shores of the Gulf, you and your companions head towards Cannes-de-Roche, before veering inland after the place called Coin du Banc 🏞️. You will follow the course of the Rivière du Portage for 7 kilometers before heading back to De Forceville and then down to the small fishing port of Anse-à-Beaufils. Until the 35th kilometer of the race, the gradients are relatively gentle but things get serious as you ascend towards the heights surrounding Percé ⛰️, with a series of passes, ascents, and descents 😬. The 5,000 mD+ had to be hiding somewhere. Mont Saint-Anne, overlooking Percé, offers a bit of respite with its magnificent landscapes. It's back in the other direction to the base camp of Gaspesie, located a bit above Cannes-de-Roche. You then set off again on this route you know so well, for 55 kilometers of "final". This time, it's the real deal when you see the Gulf of Saint Lawrence again after the mountainous section.
Congratulations to you! You have "conquered" the UTG100 💪.
This "UTG100 - 110" retraces a bit of the "UTG100 - 160" route, but plays with the directions shall we say ☝️.
This time the start is at Percé. You begin with the wonders of Mont Saint-Anne, which overlooks Percé and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Such stunning landscapes on this part of the route. In the distance, you can indeed enjoy the view of Ile Bonaventure and the Rocher Percé 🪨, two amazing natural beauties of the area. The first 20 kilometers of the race are a succession of passes ⛰️. Then a bit of rest on flatter sections awaits you. Enjoy the picturesque fishing port of Anse-à-Beaufils. You then head back towards Val d'Espoir and De Forceville. Once you've reached the valley of the Portage River, follow its course to the Saint Lawrence and the beach of Coin-du-Blanc. Once arrived at the Auberge du Coin-du-Blanc, the base camp, turn back! Repeat the outbound route.
3,500 mD+ await you on this race 😅.
This stage race "TP100" has a particularity ☝️.
The first day is the hardest, the following two days are to enjoy more! 😁 Participants are led to cover the same course three times, nearly 165 kilometers of race on the first day, with more than 5,000 mD+. Phew 😰. The course follows that of the "TP25". You start at Fishermen's Harbour, a small cove located 6 kilometers north of Percé. After setting off from this picturesque place, you enjoy several kilometers along the waterfront, on the shores of the Gulf 🌊. Then head towards the locality of Cannes-de-Roche, before turning inland after the place known as Coin du Banc. You will follow the Rivière du Portage course for 7 kilometers before getting back on the road to De Forceville before descending to the small fishing port of Anse-à-Beaufils. Just enough time to breathe in this magical place before you head back to the scenery surrounding Percé, with a series of passes, climbs, and descents in store 🔑. Mont Saint-Anne, overlooking Percé, offers you a little respite with its magnificent landscapes 🤩. It's back in the other direction to the base camp of Gaspesie, located a little above Cannes-de-Roche. You then set off again on this well-known course, for 55 kilometers of "final". This time it's the good one when you see the Gulf of Saint Lawrence after the mountainous ⛰️ part again.
On the second and third days, you and your adventure companions go back on the same course, between Fishermen's Harbour and Percé. But this time, you only run it once, for 55 kilometers per day "only". 😅
Lucky you 😉. Your three-day race begins on Bonaventure Island 🏝️, a small wild paradise located two kilometers from the shores of Percé. Two loops and 13 kilometers are planned to allow you to enjoy the beauty of this natural setting. A community of Northern gannets 🐧 lives here. Enjoy!
The second day takes you on a longer course, over 45 kilometers. Departure at Coin-du-Banc on the shores of La Malbaie. 7 kilometers along the Rivière du Portage until you rejoin the road towards De Forceville before heading down to the small fishing port of Anse-à-Beaufils. After revisiting the seashore 🌊, you head back inland, towards the reliefs surrounding Percé. The last 10 kilometers thus require an extra burst of energy ⚡ with a series of several passes, ascents, and descents, all the way to Percé ➡️.
The third day of this stage race begins on the piers of the town of Percé 📍. The view of the Rock 🪨 Percé, located 30 meters from the land, will give you extra strength 💪. You have enough energy to tackle some reliefs. 700 mD+ await you on the heights surrounding Percé. First, those of Mont Saint-Anne. Its trails overlook the Gulf, a marvel 😍. You then descend via the Sentier des Sources to reach the slopes of Mont Blanc. The Canadian peak, reaching 350 meters 📈. After circling the mount by the Pieds Croches Trail, still on soft trails, you will tackle the descent towards Percé by the Grande Coupe Trail, which will lead you to the La Coulée River. It will show you the way to the Gulf and the finish line 🏁, which takes place on the piers just like the start 😌.
This "UTG100 - 55" starts at Fishermen's Harbour, a small cove located 6 kilometers north of Percé 🧭.
After setting off from this picturesque spot, you enjoy several kilometers along the water's edge, on the shores of the Gulf 🌊. First, head towards the locality of Cannes-de-Roche, before turning inland after the area known as Coin du Banc. You'll follow the course of the Rivière du Portage for 7 kilometers until you return to the road towards De Forceville 🛣️ before heading down to the small fishing port of Anse-à-Beaufils 🎣. Half of the route is behind you. As you barely have time to savor this magical place, you head back towards the hills surrounding Percé ⛰️. The last 20 kilometers demand energy with a succession of several passes, climbs and descents in store 📈. A total of 1,700 m ascent in this challenge.
Mont Saint-Anne, overlooking Percé, will offer you a beautiful finale 😍 facing the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.
For this "TP50" as for the "TP25", the first day of this stage race takes place on Bonaventure Island, a little natural and wild paradise located two kilometers from the shores of Percé 🏝️. 13 kilometers and 450 meters of elevation gain are scheduled on the trails of this part of the world usually populated by northern gannets... 🐧
The second day is more terrestrial, even if it starts in a fishing port 🎣. Indeed, it is in the charming setting of Anse-à-Beaufils, located 10 km along the coast south of Percé, that the start of this race takes place 📍. The first 8 kilometers, inland towards the town of Petit-Québec, present no difficulty. It's then time to tackle the reliefs surrounding Percé. As you climb and descend the trails of this natural territory, you can relish the view of the Gulf. On the trails of Mont Saint-Anne, magnificent views 😍 await you over the Rocher Percé and Île Bonaventure. Watch your step! 😅 The finish is planned on the docks of the town of Percé.
The 3rd day, repeat with the 13 km circuit on Bonaventure Island. Just to make the most again of the chance to be here! In the middle of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, one of the largest in the world 🌎, we'll let you imagine the journey.
This time, the race starts at Barachois 📍, a locality in the city of Percé located on La Malbaie, bay of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The race promises to be exciting. After the first 3 kilometers, the first treat is crossing La Malbaie via Beach Street. A narrow strip of sand stretching 4 kilometers offers you a beautiful start to the race in a marine atmosphere. Upon reaching Cannes-de-Roches, you have 2 flat kilometers left before branching onto the rolling hills and trails surrounding Percé, for a more mountainous ambiance. This is followed by alternating ascents and descents with small passes offering between 150 and 350 meters of elevation. By taking the Sentier des Sources, the course ends between Mont Blanc and Mont Saint-Anne, just before reaching the docks of Percé 🏁.
It is in the rather magical setting of Anse-à-Beaufils, a small fishing port located 10 km along the coast south of Percé, that the start of this race takes place 🎣. What a picturesque place! Enjoy the atmosphere. The first 6 kilometers, heading towards the commune of Petit-Québec, are quite gentle and lead you slowly towards the hills surrounding Percé, which you will reach after 9 kilometers of plains 🌿. You will then scramble for 5 kilometers along the long trail of Coin-du-Banc-à-Percé, which will take you to the foot of Mont Blanc that you will circle ⛰️. You then return towards the Gulf and its majestic shoreline 🌊. Then descend to the La Coulée River, before tackling the trails of Mont Saint-Anne. The final kilometers offer you a return to Percé, for a finish on the city docks 🏙️.
This 3-stage race takes place on land and sea! Here's the plan: the first day of "TP25" takes you to Bonaventure Island, for a 7-kilometer circuit facing the Gulf waters. 225 meters of elevation await you... as well as the gannets 🐧, residents of the island.
The second day is the biggest day of this stage race 💪. This time, 12 kilometers are on the program, with a planned start in the midst of nature, a few kilometers as the crow flies from Percé 🪽. You will slowly ascend towards Mont Blanc, circle around it, and then enjoy all the viewpoints along the route. It must be said, the view is stunning 🤩. Then descend to the La Coulée River before tackling the trails of Mont Saint-Anne. Be careful of falls if you look too much at the magnificent landscape around you 🤣. The last kilometers offer a return to Percé, for an arrival on the city docks. Day 2 completed! ✅
The third day offers a return to Mont Saint-Anne, but in the opposite direction to the trails covered on day 2 of the race. A discovery trail of 5 km to beautifully finish these 3 days and once again enjoy the beauties of the area. After traversing the Arpenteurs Trail, you will gently continue on the Belvedere Trail, which lives up to its name. Breathtaking panorama over the Gulf and Bonaventure Island. After the Raven's Nest Belvedere, descend back to the town of Percé via the Sources Trail 💦.
This trail of 15 km begins on the shores of the town of Percé 📍. You'll receive a big immediate reward with a stunning view of the Rock 🪨 Percé, a natural monument of the Gulf, located 30 meters from the land. Once this thrill passes, you'll have enough energy to tackle some reliefs ⛰️. A 700-meter altitude gain awaits you on the heights surrounding Percé ⬆️. First, those of Mont Saint-Anne. Its trails overlook the Gulf, a marvel 😍. You then descend through the Sentier des Sources to reach the slopes of Mont Blanc. After circling the mountain via the Sentier des Pieds Croches, still on soft trails, you'll tackle the descent back to Percé via the Sentier de la Grande Coupe 📉, which will lead you to the La Coulée River. This, in turn, will show you the path of the Gulf and the finish 🏁, which takes place on the docks just like the start 😉.
The participants of this trail of the island will also be treated to the wonders of the Île Bonaventure and Percé Rock National Park... 🤩 While the start of the race is the same as the 7 km, on the shore facing Percé, the participants of this race will get a double portion of the main loop, eventually running 13 km! 👏 A great way to enjoy even more of the natural beauties of the place... 450 meters of elevation gain await runners on this discovery trail.
With this trail of the island, participants get to enjoy all the wonders of the Bonaventure Island and Percé Rock National Park! 🤩 Behind this long name lies a small natural gem located on an island two kilometers off the coast of Percé. The place offers a gentle elevation (225 meters), perfectly suitable for beginners. 7 kilometers of trail facing the waters of the Gulf to enjoy! 🌊 All under the amused gaze of the Northern Gannets 🐧, inhabitants of the island.
It is in Percé, near the campsite, that the start of this discovery trail of 5 km takes place. Head towards Mont Saint-Anne, towering at 330 meters high across from the city 🏙️. Competitors 🏃♂️➡️ follow the Arpenteurs trail to tackle the slopes of the Mont. The gentle ascent continues on the Belvédères trail, offering a breathtaking view of the Gulf and Île-Bonaventure 🤯. After the Belvédère du Nid de Corbeau, descend back to the city of Percé via the Sources trail. The race ends in the city, along the waterfront of the gigantic Gulf of Saint-Lawrence 🌊.
