So Brice, you're a winner runner, with a Finisher rising and you're looking for a new race goal? 🎯 Put away your surfboard and get out your sneakers 👟, we're taking you to Nice the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, for the Biarritz International Marathon - Basque Country. You'll see the beach from land thanks to the various distances on offer: a marathon, a marathon relay for 3, a half marathon, a 14 km, a 10 km and an untimed 5 km at your own pace, which you can do walking 🚶.
Ocean 🐳, fine sand 🏝️, surfer spot 🏄♀️, not to mention the legendary Bayonne festivals 🐃, you surely know the famous Basque Coast. One of holidaymakers' favorite seaside destinations every summer 😎 and the resort location par excellence. It's in Biarritz, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, that we meet you for the Biarritz International Marathon 📍. This superb event takes place at the end of April. The atmosphere will be hot and we hope you will be just as hot! 🔥 April is the perfect month to enjoy the spring ocean air! That's actually the real strength of this race: it offers you an ideal setting to enjoy a holiday atmosphere in advance! Don't be caught off guard by the weather, because that's also the magic 🪄 of the region. You can expect intense heat ☀️ just as much as gray and rainy weather 🌦. What an adventure! 😅
Back to the race 👉. On the program, it's not only the ambitious distance of 42 km that you can run. You'll also have a half marathon as well as a 14 km and a 10 km to show off your running talents ✨. If the marathon course catches your eye 👀, but the big distance scares you, no worries. You can also run it as a relay 🤝 of 3. This event is above all accessible, notably thanks to the untimed, free-pace 5 km 🚶🏼♂️ that allows everyone to take part! 🚶🏼♂️A race description without talking about the course? 🫢 It's like the "ç" in surf, it doesn't exist! 😆 But hey, we'll tell you right away, a course with two faces awaits you 🎭.
The Biarritz International Marathon is unique in the way it varies the landscapes. You'll alternate between trails and roads, city and nature, sea and mountains, lake and rolling paths. You won't be bored! So, ready to ride run? Okay, then your program begins with the discovery of the historic city of Biarritz with a start and a finish at the Christina Aguilera Stadium 🏟️. The different races will let you set off to conquer the iconic monuments of the city as well as the neighboring villages that are full of charming and typical places of the region. Get ready to run along the seaside 🌊, with the wind in your hair 💨, but also to climb a little. Nothing insurmountable, mind you... But you know the famous saying about incredible landscapes? They have to be earned! 😉 You'll even have the chance, if the weather allows, to admire the Pyrenees mountain range ⛰️. As we told you, the sea will probably be a little rough: with 500 mD+ for the Biarritz Marathon and 305 mD+ for the Biarritz Half Marathon, don't forget to polish your shoes and get ready to face the waves 💪.
Once your feet are worn out, we suggest you try water sports. And hey, why not… surfing? 🤔 We're super original, we know 😌. We promise, you'll have a better instructor than Brice! After your surf session, you can set off to discover the city of Biarritz, which is full of spots to discover such as the Biarritz aquarium 🐠, the Historical Museum, the Museum of Oriental Asian Art and the chocolate museum 🍫. Speaking of chocolate, if you're like us and love trying regional culinary specialties, you're in for a treat! 🍽️ Those who are missing new challenges can try biting into the famous Espelette pepper 🌶️, without your eyes watering 🥲. More seriously, for a proper meal, we recommend trying Bayonne ham 🥩 or the famous Basque chicken 🍗. For cheese, let yourself be tempted by Ossau-Iraty 🧀, accompanied by an Irouléguy (wine from the local vineyard), to be enjoyed in moderation 🍷. To finish on a sweet note, we suggest the Basque cake, the star of the region's desserts 🍰.
We hope that after reading this, you're not fed up with the Basque Country, because we can't wait to see you there! 😉
Come on, marathoners, let's stay in shape to discover this great course 😄.
The adventure begins at the Aguilera Stadium in Biarritz. Unfortunately, Christina didn't come to sing 🎤, but many rugby matches 🏉 are held there. So, ready for your grand start?
You will run alongside the Lac Marion Park, which is a protected coastal site (Conservatoire du littoral) with 5 hectares of green space. Nature makes its way into the city, and you won't leave these picturesque surroundings right away, since your course will take you past Lake Mouriscot. A setting that will offer you varied landscapes such as woodland 🌳 and the green-watered lake 🛶. After 13 km, you reach your first village, Bassussarry, with its typical Basque Coast houses. We are sure the locals will know how to cheer you on as you deserve! Careful ⚠️, don't throw your litter on the ground, the town is home to a regional nature reserve! 🦆 Well, we have to warn you that this is where the elevation gain begins, since all the little villages have hilly paths in common. Come on, hang in there, after this stage the course will be flatter, we promise 🙏.
🎶 "Biarritz, under your enchanting sky, I knew happiness" 🎶. If these lyrics sound familiar, it's because the singer is none other than Luis Mariano, who died in 1970 and is buried in Arcangues, a village on your course. Apart from the famous singer's gravestone, you will above all have the opportunity to cross the Arcangues Golf Course, with an unobstructed view of the Pyrenees ⛰️. This majestic place offers an incredible landscape with many natural undulations 🖼.
At km 19, you arrive in the pretty town of Arbonne, a village you will surely like, particularly because of the original architecture of its stone houses 🏠 (we won't say more! 😉). Discover its rich, historic heritage, notably with the Church of Saint-Laurent, listed as a historic monument. At km 26, you will enter the charming coastal village of Bidart, which is the highest village on the Basque Coast 👆. Originally a whaling port 🐳, its history goes back to the Middle Ages. Although the village has stopped its fishing activities 🎣, it remains a key place on your race. Unfortunately, you won't have time to stop there, so we advise you to come back once your course is finished to enjoy the setting, the cafés and the restaurants🍴.
The other long-awaited part of your course will finally appear before you. Your route along the seaside will begin with an unobstructed view of the ocean, and this until the end of the race. You will also be able to see unusual places such as the "100 steps" (commonly used to go down to the beach 🏝️ ). Rest assured, you are only passing by. Phew! Well, you won't get too much respite either, because the last part of your course has a few hills in store for you. Yes, we warned you, you have to earn these incredible landscapes! 😻
Although you won't directly tread on the sand (since you'll take the roads overlooking the sea), you will be very close to the magnificent beaches of the coast such as la Milady or Marbella 😏. No time to lay down your towel, you are approaching one of the key places of this race, the Villa Belza, founded in 1880, an exceptional site that has also been used to shoot several film scenes.
What's next (and the end) of the program? A detour to the Old Port and a pass at the foot of the Biarritz Lighthouse, 73 m high 👀. When we tell you the course is exceptional... We're not kidding! These last monuments mark the end of your journey... Yes, all good things come to an end! A few last efforts for a return to Biarritz with a triumphant finish at the Aguilera Stadium 👏.
Confirmation of the 2027 course to come.
Your route is exactly the same as the marathon runners'. The difference is that, depending on where you start your leg, you won't see the same scenery as your teammates.
Here are the 3 sections to share the relay:

The Half Marathon has nothing to envy the Marathon 👉**.** The course that awaits you will be just as surprising! While the marathon ventures into the neighboring towns, your race will stay almost exclusively in the center of Biarritz (with a slight foray into Bidart), which, we assure you, has its share of surprises and magnificent spots 😍.
The champion that you are starts the race at the Aguilera Stadium in Biarritz. This sports park, known for hosting Rugby matches 🏉, promises to offer you an atmosphere worthy of the greatest celebrations 🎉. Come on, ready for your expedition? Let's go!
First, you will run alongside the Lac Marion Park 🛶, which is a coastal conservatory with 5 hectares of green spaces. Nature makes its way into the city. If you don't have time for a guided tour, you can have a coffee on a terrace or in one of the many restaurants in this area after your race 🍴.
You will keep running through picturesque scenery, as your route will take you around the Mouriscot lake. An exceptional setting that will offer you diverse landscapes, such as the undergrowth 🌳 and the lake with its green waters... 🥰 Even if the setting is idyllic, the trails remain hilly. So there's no question of being out of breath! 😉
You will then catch sight of the fine sand of the Milady beach. That's normal, you will reach the seaside for the rest of your race. It is during these next kilometers, hair in the wind 💨, that you will get closer to one of the highlights of this race: the Villa Belza, founded in 1880. This exceptional site has also been used in cinema 📽 to shoot several film scenes. For the last part of your already full program, we suggest a detour to the Old Port, and a few meters further, a pass very close to the famous Biarritz Lighthouse, 73 m high.
These last monuments mark the end of your magnificent route... You will only have a few meters left to reach the Aguilera Stadium where the other participants will be waiting for you 👏.

The 14 km course will let you run through the city of Biarritz.
Like your fellow runners, your start and finish will take place at the Aguilera Stadium. Whatever the distance, this event will give you a proper send-off!
The first few kilometers will take you through the best-known spots on the Basque Coast. The course gives you the chance to get a first taste of the summer atmosphere of the seaside resort and to discover its typical and charming spots! What's more, you can count on the locals to come out and cheer you on 👏.
These city paths will gently lead you to the coastal section and its panoramic ocean views 🌊. Yes, you too will get to run by the seaside 🥰. This magnificent section is one of the highlights of this race. You won't be running directly on the sand, unfortunately, but on the roads overlooking the beautiful coastal beaches 🏖 (it's more comfortable, anyway).
And as if the setting weren't enough, you'll be able to admire up close the landmark monuments of this race: you'll start with the Villa Belza, built in 1880. This exceptional site has also been used in cinema 📽 to shoot several film scenes. After a detour to the Old Port, you'll stay on course toward the Biarritz Lighthouse, 73 m tall 👀.

The "14 km Corporate Duo" offers the same route as the walk 🚶♀️➡️, or the road run but as its name suggests it is reserved for companies 👨💼. It's a challenge to take on between two colleagues ready to push themselves as a team to proudly fly their company's colors 🌈, all in a magnificent setting! 😍
Confirmation of the 2026 route to come.
Want a shorter format, but just as timed? The 10 km Timed race is waiting for you! 🏃
Unlike the marathon, the half marathon and the 14 km, your start is not given at the stadium: meet at the Cité de l'Océan at 7:15 am 🌊. You then set off on a tour of Biarritz's heritage, facing the ocean, before returning to the Aguilera Stadium 🏟️ along the ocean front. As a bonus, you run right past the foot of the lighthouse! With 157 m D+, these 10 km will keep your legs wide awake 😉.
The 5 km Matmut #NésPourBouger, created in 2026, is an alternative open to everyone: an untimed event at a free pace 🚶, where everyone exerts themselves at their own rhythm, whether you are an accomplished athlete or an occasional walker. The start is at 8:15 a.m. from the Grande Plage 🏖️, with 92 m of elevation gain. No aid station is planned along the course.
On top of having fun, you contribute to a charitable cause 🙌: your participation enables children with disabilities and/or who are hospitalized to engage in physical activity, thanks to Premiers de Cordée.
