The event in a few words

Crazy? It really is crazy! 🤪

In July , you have an appointment in the mystical town of Morzine 🧟. "Mystical? Morzine? I thought it was an idyllic ski resort? 🤔". It is! But in 1857, a mysterious illness struck the village’s young women: convulsions, hallucinations and scenes of hysteria—people spoke of women "possessed by the devil" 😮. The doctors of the time couldn’t identify the cause of this event, but one hypothesis points to the infamous cursed bread of the era (we’ll grant you, it’s pretty wild 🥖). Don’t worry—the only convulsions you’ll experience will be those of your quads during MDS Morzine Avoriaz🦵, in the heart of Haute-Savoie 🤩. The goal is as simple as it is addictive: you have 3, 6, 9, 12 or 24 hours to rack up as many loops as possible on a to 5 km📍 course. If you’re sharp, you’ll recognize the backyard 🔄 concept—except you’re not forced to head back out every hour 🕘. Basically, it’s the pure DNA of the Marathon des Sables coming to altitude for a challenge where you run, you walk, you stop to wolf down a slice of reblochon, and you head off again under a breathtaking starry sky 🌌.

If you love skiing and the mountains, you probably know the Portes du Soleil resort area, which offers a huge playground 😍. You’ll run between Morzine and Avoriaz in a truly magnificent alpine setting 🌄. The effort almost becomes secondary compared to the beauty of the show 🤩. But the real magic of Crazy Loops is its supportive and inclusive soul 🫂. You share the trail with Para sport teams, which means you can help them, accompany them, and even help them get up a climb 🥵. On a steeper section, a technical descent, or just for the joy of sharing, you can, at any time, join a Para team and help them 💪. That’s the beauty of sport 😍. Another bit of good news: our four-legged friends are welcome in the race 🐕. Between two loops, the race village becomes the beating heart of the party—you’ll form unique bonds to make it to the end of the adventure 👯‍♀️. To live the experience to the fullest, you have two options: the bivouac offer with two nights in an MDS tent, or the self-sufficient offer if you’d rather bring your own tent or book accommodation 🏠. Whether you choose to sleep under the stars or get cozy after your feats, the vibe will remain festive, alpine, and decidedly laid-back 🧘. You run, you walk, you push yourself to the limit, you lift others up, you stop… and you set off again until exhaustion 🥱.

Once you’ve completed your 42nd loop (or your 2nd—it’s up to you 😌) and your calves are begging for a break, the adventure continues 💥. Since you’re there, make the most of Avoriaz! It’s the only resort accessible only on foot: you go up by gondola, and then, 0 cars...only horse-drawn carriages like in the good old days 🐎. Take the opportunity to admire the famous organic architecture of this village, designed to blend perfectly into the landscape 🪵. The building “les Hauts-Forts 2” has even been listed as a historic monument—nothing less 👏. If your joints are crying mercy, you can also try natural cryotherapy 🥶 by dipping your feet into an icy alpine stream. It’s local, it’s free, and it’s brutally effective at putting out the fire smoldering in your shoes 🔥. And between two bites of crozets and a diot sausage in white wine, don’t forget to dunk your bread into a generous fondue —even in the middle of summer, it goes down just fine! 🫕

Ready to run yourself ragged? 😵‍💫 Don’t loop past this event!

4 reasons to join this race

The concept 🔄
It’s absolute freedom! You manage your effort however you like for 3, 6, 9, 12 or 24 hours 😍. A 3 to 5 km loop to do twice for fun or twenty times for the challenge. You decide when you stop to dance and when you head back into battle 👊. You’ve got the cards in your hands—your move 🥵.
Sharing the effort over several days ⛺️
You’ll spend two nights in a base camp alongside your adventure buddies 👯‍♀️. You share your strides, your doubts and your fits of laughter with strangers who quickly become your best allies (or competitors 😈). It’s this repeated effort over several days that turns a simple sporting performance into an unforgettable memory etched in 💪. It’s the perfect opportunity to unplug from daily life and reconnect with what matters: the joy of moving forward together.
An inclusive and supportive adventure 🫂
MDS Crazy Loops lets you become a Helping Runner to give meaning back to your stride ♿. Sharing the course with the Para teams and helping each other on steep sections creates a unique bond you won’t find anywhere else in competition. That’s the beautiful values of sport, isn’t it? ❤️
The lovely resort of Morzine-Avoriaz 😍
Morzine sits at 1,000 m altitude, Avoriaz at 1,800! ⬆️ These two villages in Haute-Savoie are simply stunning and offer unique panoramas over the Alps ⛰️. Apartment blocks, wooden chalets, a car-free village, mountain vibes...You’ll only have one desire: come back in winter ❄️.
