24h without stopping? Yes, yes, you heard right, the T24 Xtrem Triathlon, no joke 😬. Anyway, just from its name, you get it, it's an extreme event 😶. Here, meet at Bormes-les-Mimosas, right in the Var 🇫🇷. If you're not exactly sure where this city is, here's a clue: it's on the most beautiful seaside resort in southern France 🏖️. Of course, you'll go to ... the French Riviera! Picture yourself between the beach, the vineyards, the hills... 🏞️ No, we didn't say to imagine yourself on vacation, but almost! 😥 What changes is that you'll go to string this all together: the swim, the bike and the run, and you'll come out with your legs on fire 🔥. Your month of October will be highlighted by this challenge, getting you ready for the new season 💼. Considering what's planned, doing it solo might be scary, but NO PANIC, 95% of participants take on this challenge in groups! Yes, you can do all this duo or in a relay of 4 or 6. 👯♀️
Enough talking, let us introduce the crazy concept waiting for you 🙌. The goal is simple: do the longest triathlon possible, in 24 hours 🕛. For this, you will have a clear program with 4 hours of swimming to start 🏊. On a 1,000 m loop, you have to do the most laps possible 🔄. Little advantage, you and your colleagues will have the feeling of being on a full journey, with an Australian exit for each lap completed! 🇦🇺 Joking aside, this is just the beginning of the bike challenge 💫. Following this first stage, it's time for the 🛑. On a 20 km loop for 12 hours non-stop 🛑. The same principle: the more laps you accumulate, the more points you earn ➕. With that, the night might seem long, but save your energy, it's not over yet 👀. If your calculations are correct, you have 8 hours of running documentary 📋. For this final event, the team will have to give it their all, to complete the 5 km until exhaustion 🤪. At this point, unless you're superheroes, the mind takes over for this final challenge ⚡️.
You might wonder: how does one win? ✅ Every kilometer completed and depending on the discipline, you earn a certain number of points. For swimming, for every kilometer, you will earn 15 points 🙂. For both cycling and running, 1 km gains you 1 point. So do not aim for 1,000,000, that could be quite the challenge... 🌧️ FYI, the maximum points earned on a T24 challenge is 1,204 points! That sets the bar really high 🧐. By the way, if you love this concept, keep the motivation with a team, because there are other editions in different cities! 😄 There are events at Ile de Ré, Mont-Blanc, and Breizh 📍. If you're crazy enough to do one, why not go all out and do others? 😆
The region PACA, is well known for its stunning landscapes 💐. At Bormes-les-Mimosas, even if it's not the first city you think of 😹, it’s something you will remember. On the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the turquoise water will send your mind on vacation (again) 🌊. There is originality here because you will also be in the heart of the Borméens vineyards 🍇. If you have time to visit, don't hesitate any longer! 🍷 Finally, to complete the landscapes and suggest a walk in Pas de la Griotte ⛰️. Oh, after climbing it twice during your bike loop, you might not be able to see this hill anymore... 🥴 What is certain is that the gastronomy will awaken your appetite! A good anchoïade, a good jar of honey, tapenade and especially a huge tarte tropézienne 🍰.
With all this, your ticket is surely already booked, you just need to train 🌬️.
Message from the organizer:
"If you're thirsty for nature and both vineyards AND ridges excite you, then Bormes-les-Mimosas is your ideal destination. The courses will guide you through the beach and the Favière port, the Borméens vineyards... An experience that will test your thighs, especially during the epic double ascent of the Pas de la Griotte! 5 reasons to do Dormes-les-Mimosas: It’s absolutely beautiful! The turquoise water, the ridges, the vineyards... you'll feast your eyes! It's hilly! Here, 2 ascents of the Pas de la Griotte per lap (enjoy the view!), otherwise it's quite rolling! It's the French Riviera! Swim, pedal, and run in one of the most iconic and most beautiful seaside resorts in Southern France! It's perfect for disconnecting. Between the Massif des Maures and the Mediterranean Sea, you'll feel like you're at the end of the world, where time stops for the weekend. It's the best beer! Even though we're right in the middle of the land of pastis, they say it's the T24 spot where the beer is the best... take note, Ch’tis and Belgians!"
And here we go for a crazy triathlon. A 24-hour program with one goal: to make the longest possible triathlon. Whether you are in a duo, in a relay of 4 or 6 or alone, good luck, it's surely going to be tough tomorrow 😆.
To start, everything begins with 4 hours of swimming 🏊. With a lap of 1,000 m, which must be completed as many times as possible 🔄. All laps will end with an Australian exit, but don't mistake yourself for a kangaroo and save your energy to have the most points at the end 🦘. Speaking of points, each kilometer will earn 15 points, so do your best to collect lots of them! ➕
After this nice little warm-up, in the late afternoon, it's time for 12 hours of cycling. Yes, yes, it's going to be a great night for all participants. A loop of 21 km with 231 mD+ will be prepared to be done at will 😋. With a double ascent of the Col du Pas de la Griotte, your calves will surely be well warmed up! Here, 1 kilometer = 1 point, so just pedal hard to get through the evening as quickly as possible ⚡️.
Finally, what better way to wake up than running ? 👐 4 + 12 = 16, the calculations are quick, there are 8 hours left to complete this challenge. If we haven't lost anyone, since this is a triathlon, the end will be by running 🏃♀️. Here, you need to tap into your deepest energy to complete this loop of 4.25 km and 35 mD+ as many times as possible. Just like cycling, the number of kilometers here will equal the number of points ✅.
