The event in a few words

In the spotlight... at twelve! ➕

1 km + 20 mD+ = 5 points 🤓. That’s the scoring method for La Douze Mont-Blanc Passy ! If that seems strange to you, that’s normal—it’s brand new! 🆕 For this first edition of La Douze, you’ll discover a whole new way to get on the podium: accumulate points! 🖐️ So for the month of May, look no further and come to Plaine-Joux in Passy, between Chamonix and Sallanches 📍. Across multiple routes, between the slopes of the mountains, the forest, Lake Vert 🏞️ and the chamois bounding along the cliffs 🐐, you’ll be able to run for 12 hours non-stop ⏱️. A day where you’ll need to show strategy and creativity to finish on time and with as many points as possible! 😎

At La Douze Mont-Blanc Passy, the clock is the same for everyone: 12 hours, not a minute more ☝️. The real question is: how many kilometers and meters of elevation gain can you handle in that time? 🤔 4 points for every kilometer covered and 1 point for 20 mD+—once you’ve got that in mind, you can set off on the different routes on offer ➡️. Yes, we’re not just letting you loose in nature like that! 5 distances can be tackled: "Le Chamois Blanc" of 3.5 km and 65 mD+ for 17 points, "Le Barmus" of 7 km and 340 mD+ for 45 points, "Les Miots" of 11.5 km and 560 mD+ for 74 points, "La Varanchette" of 18.75 km and 940 mD+ for 122 points and finally "Lachat'Ouille" of 26.75 km and 1,460 mD+ ⛰️. To take on this adventure, you can choose to go solo or as a team of 2, 3, or 4 to take turns! 🤝 The more the merrier, so bring your friends 👯. Be careful not to party too hard out on the routes, though: every minute over the 12 hours will cost you one point 🥲. So you’ll need to carefully calculate the time left on the clock before setting off on your final loop ⏰. To make up for a potential miss on the final loop (or rack up even more points 🤑), you’ll be able to make the difference by taking part in speed or difficulty challenges to try to win bonus points! 🤪 Time to show off your KOM-hunter skills on Strava 😂.

La Douze Mont-Blanc Passy is more than trail running: it’s a real festival with a crazy atmosphere 🎉, concerts and a stunning natural setting 🍃, all under the Haute-Savoie sun! 🌞 And to shine out on the routes, you can even come in costume! 🕺 Once your mission is complete and the clock has stopped ❌, enjoy the Plaine-Joux resort and its race village 🏃‍♀️, set up especially for the occasion 🥳. You’ll have spent your time admiring the Roof of Europe, so it’ll be time to go there 😍. Finally, we don’t recommend going all the way to the top—your legs will have suffered enough already 😂. You can head to Chamonix to admire the breathtaking view of Mont Blanc, or hop on board the Mont Blanc Tramway which will take you up from Le Fayet (580 m) to Nid d’Aigle (2,372 m) 🚞. To refuel, a fondue will be waiting for you in one of the resort’s restaurants 🫕.

Gently but surely, you’ll come and run La Douze Mont-Blanc Passy 😜.

4 reasons to join this race

Forget the stopwatch ⏱️
Here, it’s not because you finish your loop first that you’ll necessarily end up on the podium! The goal at La Douze is to rack up the most kilometers and elevation gain in twelve hours, stopwatch running. Within that time, you can take breaks, chat with your mates, refuel as much as you want... Or run non-stop for 12 hours to try to claim the trophy! 🏆
A different view over the valley 🏔️
The race takes place above Passy, at the Plaine-Joux resort. You’ll run facing Mont Blanc, right on the mountainside 🤩. The longer the routes, the more technical they are, but the view is worth it! And keep your eyes open—you might spot a few chamois 🐐.
Teamwork 💪
Rather than starting solo, you can do it with others: 2, 3, or 4 relay runners—it’s up to you! The aim is to share the kilometers over those 12 hours. That way, everyone can head out feeling fresh, give it everything on their route, and take time to rest once their loop is done 😉.
Build a strategy 🤓
From 3.5 km and 65 mD+ to 26.75 km and 1,460 mD+, you’ll have a wide choice of routes during these 12 hours. Still, you’ll need to do the math and know your level to rack up as many points as possible! The more you run, the more you climb, the more points you get 🤪. But watch out for penalties: if you don’t finish your loop in time, you could lose points 😅.

A word from the organizer:

"You can go all out for 5 km, then test your legs on the 15 km, take a break, do another 5 km, enjoy a lunch break and a concert in the village, head back out on a 21 km, catch your breath a bit in the recovery zone, then finish on the 10 km at sunset? It’s up to you."
