Capital of Andalusia, the city of Málaga has existed since Antiquity, making it the oldest capital in Europe 🇪🇺. With 29 museums, including 24 in its historic center alone, it’s one of the cities with the greatest number of museums—no less! 🤓 After the race, you can take the time to visit the Roman theatre. This relic dates from the 1st century BC 🏛️, and is located at the foot of the great fortress of Alcazaba. It is the largest and best preserved in all of Spain! 🇪🇸 If you like painting 🎨, consider stopping by the Picasso Museum, where more than 200 works 🖼️ by the famous Spanish painter 👨🎨 are on display.
We suspect you came here to sweat and not to get cultured, so we’re going to tell you about the schedule for this March day. There will be one single race, a Half Marathon 💪. Last year, for the 34th edition, there were 8,000 runners roaming the streets with the same idea: to conquer those 21.097 km. And some did it faster than lightning! ⚡ This half marathon ranks in the top 5 of the fastest half marathons in history! You can see why when you look at the records of certain athletes like Kenyan Gilbert Kipkosgei, who won in 58 minutes and 27 seconds, and Kenyan Loice Chemnung who finished queen with a time of 1 h 05 minutes and 46 seconds ! 🤯 We challenge you to do even better! 😝 The race is open to para-sport athletes ♿️, who will be eligible for a discount on their registration 📝. The start will be given on the Paseo del Parque in Malaga Park 🌳. Then follows a road course, mainly coastal 🚢 where you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the sea 🌊. Along the way, you’ll pass iconic monuments of the city, such as the Malaga lighthouse. This symbol of the city is located right at the entrance to the port and gives its name to the promenade where it stands 🚢.
Spring 🌸 is generally a mild season in Andalusia, with temperatures ranging between 15° and 20°C 🌞. The water might be a bit cold, but you can still go for a walk on the beach and soak up the sun to relax after all that physical effort! 🕶️ Málaga is full of gorgeous beaches 🏖️; if you don’t want to move far from the city center, the Malagueta Beach is perfect for you! As they say, after effort comes comfort ! 🥵 To recharge as best as possible, we recommend trying tapas 🌮. The cuisine of Málaga is typically Mediterranean; you’ll have the chance to discover Pescaíto frito, Espetos de sardinas 🌯 or even the real Gazpacho 🥫. If you feel like it, you can try Cartojal; this sweet wine is a specialty of the city 🍷.
