At first glance, the name of this race can be misleading: the 24h du Fer à Cheval (24 Hours of the Horseshoe) is not an equestrian event, but a trail race… 👟 a rather special one, at the gates of Paris!
In the paths of the Domaine de Saint-Cloud 🌲 with a panoramic view over Paris and all of Île-de-France, 24 hours of well-paced effort and fun await you: a challenge to take on solo or in a free relay, as a duo, as a trio or as a team of four. You're in luck: temperatures 🌡️ are still mild at this time of year in Paris. It's the perfect opportunity to put your summer training to the test and show off your runner's tan! ☀️
A mix of ultra-trail and backyard in the Paris region?! Yes, it's possible! Maybe not exactly the way you imagine it 🤔. Let us explain right away. Taking part in the 24h du Fer à Cheval means linking together as many laps as possible on an 800 m loop with 30 m of elevation gain … For one full day 🤓. Needless to say, the challenge will push you to give your best while having as much fun as possible! The course is super simple: you start on the Fer à Cheval avenue 🧲, climb up the hill to admire Paris, then head back down to your starting point 🏁. Simple, right? 🙃 We'll talk about it again after 24 hours of racing! 😅
The good news: your sense of direction won't be put to the test 😜. It's impossible to get lost on this course! You'll be able to fully enjoy the 460 hectares of one of the most beautiful gardens in the Paris region. This estate on the banks of the Seine was first and foremost a royal residence 👑 that belonged to, among others, Louis XIV, Henri IV and even Napoleon Bonaparte. A lot has happened since the 16th century, but 24-hour ultras? That's never been seen before! 😉
After your adventure, you'll have the chance to discover Paris in all its facets 📐. From the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame Cathedral ⛪️, including the Louvre Museum 🖼️, the Champs-Élysées for a bit of shopping 🛍️ or the banks of the Seine for a walk 🥾, a bike ride... Or even a ride on a bateau-mouche! 🚤 If you want to extend the countryside atmosphere at the gates of Paris, Versailles, Giverny (the Claude Monet garden) or the Chevreuse Valley with the Château de Rambouillet will welcome you with open arms. Charming and peaceful villages nearby, perfect for recovering and escaping the hustle and bustle of the city! 🏙️
We'll do everything we can to make sure the aid stations at the 24h du Fer à Cheval are top-notch and high quality. But let's be honest: we can't compete with French gastronomy! 😅 The best ally for recovering after the race is a good meal and something to treat yourself 🍽️. And you've come to the right place: in France 🇫🇷, Paris and gastronomy go hand in hand 👯. You're sure to find something to delight in after the effort, with enough variety to treat your taste buds after a very athletic day.
So, ready to take on the challenge and become a finisher of the 24h du Fer à Cheval? 🥇
A word from the organizer:
"The 24h du Fer à Cheval was born from a simple but ambitious idea:
to offer an accessible ultra in the Paris region, in a unique and
friendly setting. The idea emerged among the members of Xrun during their
training sessions on the site, who wondered how many times they could climb up and down the Fer à Cheval. After a first test lasting several hours, the experience turned into a more ambitious project, with a first edition initially reserved for club members.
Encouraged by other runners and clubs, we opened the concept to the public and organized the first edition. Although the edition planned for 2025 had to be canceled because of a strike in the Saint-Cloud park, we continued our efforts and are preparing what will be the 1st official edition, with 150 bibs.
Our ambition remains to create a unique experience combining self-improvement, team spirit and conviviality, where each runner can measure themselves against their own limits while sharing a collective adventure. From aid stations to entertainment, along with safe and attentive supervision, everything is designed so that this race remains a memorable experience, for participants and volunteers alike.
We can't wait to welcome you and share this exceptional adventure together, in the emblematic setting of the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, to celebrate endurance, camaraderie and the spirit of the 24h du Fer à Cheval"
