The event in a few words

Forget about the Swiss watches that go "tick-tock" nonstop, here the only rhythm that matters is that of your sneakers on the docks 👟. Let's meet in the heart of the Canton of Vaud, in Switzerland Romandie, for the 33rd edition of a sports monument that keeps making a name for itself🇨🇭. With over 14,000 participants expected, a true human tide is ready to run on the Riviera 📍. The program is simple and effective: the mythical marathon of 42.195 km, but also a half-marathon and a quarter-marathon (10 km), so everyone can take a bite of the bar 🍫. Well, being in the land of chocolate, it's hard not to eat it at least once...

By the way, did you know this race was born from a promise made to Japan in 1993? 🇯🇵 After a "Arigato Gozaimasu", the event came to life the following year, coinciding with the opening of the Olympic Museum 🏟️. On these grounds, it's a bit like if Baron Pierre de Coubertin decided to go jogging with Charlie Chaplin, since the route connects Lausanne to Vevey, aka the welcoming land of the illustrious Chaplin 🎩. This time, however, we are not in a silent film, but the scenery between Lake Geneva and the golden vineyards of Lavaux (listed at UNESCO, please!) might take your breath away as much as the elevation 📈. In 1995, the AIMS even ranked the event among the 20 most beautiful in the world. That's to say if the spot is "Instagrammable" before its time! 📸

Are you doubting the atmosphere? Better not, over there it's a mix of Swiss seriousness for the organization and a touch of madness on the course ⭐️. We recall the 2011 edition, where runners dressed up for Halloween transformed the group into a giant horror film (but with smiles) 😁. Other anecdotes include legends like Tesfaye Eticha, the "Modest Giant" with 7 victories, or Laura Hrebec, who flirted with records under a pouring rain 🌧️. This year, the spirit of solidarity also grips the race. All registrations will support "Léman Hope", an association that restores confidence to young people in cancer remission through sailing 🚤. Running for a good cause is still the best fuel ❤️.

Especially for this race, don't forget we're in the land of fondue and chocolate (all for a good diet), and there's plenty to see 👀. If you still have strength after the effort, take a tour of the Parc de Milan or enjoy a cruise on the boat "Lausanne" to see the vineyards from the water 🚢. Otherwise, visit the Olympic Museum or say hello to the Chaplin statue in Vevey, to better soak in the history of the race. And to better understand the culture, you might as well end the day with a typical fondue and of course, a chocolate bar as we introduced it to you 😋.

In short, you understand that your only concern is to choose the right distance. The organization will handle the rest 💪.

4 reasons to join this race

For Lake Geneva 🐟
Lake Geneva is the largest lake in Switzerland, the largest lake in the Alps... Its shores and landscapes are majestic, and Lausanne enjoys it very well! One can easily imagine running along its shores, or resting there afterward... Very inspiring. Many painters have been inspired by it! 🦑
Because there's something for everyone 😌
Walking, Nordic walking, road running: all speeds are represented here, and that's also one of the charms of this event, open to as many people as possible 🤩. Bring along your whole family and friends 💞.
Lausanne, a city of culture 📚
Lausanne is renowned, among others, for its dynamism and museums 🏛️. It is indeed a very student-oriented city (10% of the population) with at least 25 museums dotting the city, which has a history dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, or even earlier... Past and future, a beautiful combination in Lausanne!
A little park? 🏕️
Lausanne is simply considered one of the greenest cities in Europe! 🌿 Numerous parks are listed, offering plenty of space to relax after your race and its emotions. Beautiful forests are also within the territory of the commune, which spans 41 square kilometers 🌳.

A few more words

The departure will take place in two groups from Milan Square at 10:05 ⌚️, just below the park of the same name 🌳. Passing by the Olympic Park and its museum will no doubt give you a little extra energy... ⚡️ Pully, Paudex, Lutry, Cully, you will speed through all the towns lining the lake. You'll pass by some beaches that will make you want to take a dip 🏖️. In Cully, you'll take a little tour around the town and a few zigzags before heading back along the lake. The 20 km mark will be reached in Vevey, where you will turn around just after the Petit Port Eiffel. The return to Lausanne will follow the same route, so you'll have all your landmarks in sight. Just before the 40th km, the route will take a turn towards the Ouchy Quay and port 🚢 for a finish at Place Bellerive. It is located right next to the Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze, its beaches... 🏖️ Delight awaits!
