The event in a few words
It is from the Agafay Desert 🌴, located about thirty kilometers from Marrakech 🇲🇦, that the Agafay-Marrakech Trail takes place. This is a favorite playground for national and international mountain bikers and trail runners 🌏. This trail and bike🚵♀️ celebration and eco-friendly ♻️ event welcomes both novice and professional athletes. Between late November and early December, the Berber (re)light shines on three different events with no less than five distances ⭐. Participants can choose from a trail of 11 km or 23 km through the spectacular desert landscapes, or for the most daring, a 42 km! 💪 For experienced mountain bikers, the program includes routes of 30 km and 60 km! 🤯 The Trail Maroc association organizes this event with the intent of introducing or reintroducing this region of Marrakech, while also raising awareness about its preservation. The Agafay Desert, which spans several hundred hectares, is a unique environment of stones and rocks 🗻, featuring dunes in white and ocher tones. Although it is not a desert in the strictest sense, its topography is reminiscent of the Sahara, offering a popular getaway close to the city 🗺️. Away from the urban heat, Agafay houses an enchanting seven-hectare oasis, where eucalyptus, olive trees, and vineyards 🍇 thrive, nourished by a nearby wadi. In December, the snow-capped peaks of Toubkal, surrounding Agafay, add a spectacular touch to the landscape, offering a striking contrast to the desert dunes. Bivouac accommodation sites ⛺ are also available for participants wishing to experience the authentic and immersive experience under the desert's starry sky 🌌.
"It's too quiet... I don't quite like it" As you might guess, the cult movie "Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra" 𓁎 was not filmed in Egypt 🇪🇬, but rather in Morocco. The Agafay-Marrakech Trail won't be able to respond to good old Numérobis, as the excitement begins at dawn in the race village located in the heart of the desert 🌔. This event is a blend of competition, cohesion, solidarity, respect, and responsibility for sport and nature enthusiasts 🤝. The climate during this period will provide you with all the mildness you need to catch your breath, unless it's taken away by the majestic views of the High Atlas ⛰️. Just 70 km away, the Mount Toukbal, topped with snow 🏔️, watches over its million inhabitants, offering a stunning contrast with the stretching Agafay Desert at its feet. Prepare your own feet 👣 carefully, as the varied terrains and surfaces may hold some surprises for you! The Agafay Desert, with its fascinating landscapes and famous multicolored stairs, provides an exceptional natural setting for mountain bikers and trail runners 🏃♂️. While traversing its trails, you can admire the rich wildlife, from birds to small mammals 🦜, and discover plants adapted to this arid environment 🌿.
This terrain is not only a place of adventure but also a witness to the environmental challenges we face. Did we forget something? Oh yes, quite a few things! 🔥 The dream city of a thousand and one nights still holds many delights 🤤. If you prefer the hustle and bustle and the scents, lose yourself in the souks of the historic medina district, where the aromas of spices and peppermint infusions will transport you 🌶️. The Trail Maroc association is committed to promoting and preserving its natural environment. Concerned about the state of its playground, it strives to showcase it and raise awareness about its preservation ✅. Its values guide its choices and dictate its races, and this event will be no exception! Ecological and social actions will be implemented throughout the weekend to combine a love of sport with sustainability 🌈.
