The event in a few words
Put on your slippers... I mean your sneakers... because we're taking you to Marrakech 👟! Well, not really. We're actually taking you to the village of Lalla Takerkoust, not far from the cultural capital of Morocco! Sorry, we weren't very clear, but it's the view of the High Atlas mountain range that's got us perplexed. And it's not the Djebel Toubkal, located over 4,100 meters above sea level, that left us breathless (well, a little 🥵), but the breathtaking views await you with the contrast between the stony desert and snowy mountain 🏔. Does that make your mouth water? Come on, we'll tell you more about the Trail of Takerkoust, over a nice mint tea 🫖.
Trail of Morocco returns this time with the 7th edition of the Trail Takerkoust 💨. The organizers invite you to choose the event you want from a wide choice of circuits. 4 trails of 10 km, 21 km, or 42 km are offered, as well as a mini-trail of 3 km for children/juniors, the Kids Trail. The event takes place in Lalla Takerkoust village, in the Marrakech-Safi region, which has a lake of the same name, located less than an hour from Marrakech 🛶. With stunning views of the lake's shores, its dam, the arid desert surrounding it, and the snowy High Atlas (nicknamed "the roof of Morocco" 🛖), the races promise to be rich in atypical landscapes. You will then understand why the village is a favorite vacation spot for Marrakechs in need of some greenery 🌱. Moreover, this nature is largely preserved, notably thanks to the contribution of marathoners who collect several tons of waste annually in the area ♻. The trails are designed from already existing paths, the materials used are biodegradable, and the routes are continually cleaned to respect the sustainable ambitions of these nature lovers 💚. Proof that it is possible (and necessary!) to reconcile a love of outdoor sports and ecology!
The competition is open to everyone, from junior runners, trail enthusiasts to top marathoners for much more technical races. So get ready because the standout event of the trail, the Marathon of Takerkoust, includes no less than 1,300 mD+. However, the shortest trail, the 10 km, only includes 160. So there is something for everyone! And on that note, know that the competition also offers a social dimension to its participants! 💪 A donation collection is organized by the Trail Maroc association to be used in social actions 🙏.
After accomplishing your good deed and soaking your bib 🎽, you will then have all the leisure to indulge in your favorite activities, whether they are sports, cultural, historical, religious, or gastronomic. Indeed, the Marrakech-Safi region is the perfect blend between wild nature and urban dynamism. For example, you can continue on your path by enjoying one of the hiking trails of the High Atlas, take a horse 🐎, donkey or camel 🐪 ride and quad in the Agafay desert to observe the enchanted oasis. Canoeing, kayaking, golf... 🏌️♂️ Outdoor activities are plentiful and enthusiasts will be amazed by the richness of the local fauna of the Toubkal national park 🌵, home to gazelles, lynxes, leopards, jackals, mouflons, birds of prey 🦅. The flora is not left behind either, as you will observe during your races. And yes, you will be surprised by the great biodiversity of the region as you pass by eucalyptus forests or olive groves and visit the gardens of the Menara and the Majorelle 🌳.
So, if you're still not convinced, know that we have other arguments. One of them is called "tajine", the other, "couscous"... 🥘 Do you see what we're talking about? Your head must be in a souk 😏 with all this information. So we'll let you recover and we'll meet you under the sun of Marrakech next February, in the Medina of the city.

Regulars of marathons will be put to the test during this trail around Lake Takerkoust 🛶. This race is indeed aimed at the most experienced finishers as it includes 1,300 mD+ 🥵. But the self-challenge and sweat felt during the competition will be nothing compared to the wild and raw landscapes that will surround you. Olive groves, cliffs, and eucalyptus forests will be on your path and will sprinkle this almost desert-like landscape. However, the biggest spectacle will remain the breathtaking view of the High Atlas mountain range dominated by the splendid Toubkal, located at over 4,000 m altitude 🏔.

The sensational 29 km trail takes place around Lake Lalla Takerkoust, itself bordered by hills, small mountains, forests, cereal fields, and cliffs 🏜. You will also have the chance to challenge yourself with 740 m of elevation gain... a great challenge amidst a spectacular landscape. With the High Atlas in the background, you will travel through the N'Fiss Valley to the south before refreshing yourself with a good traditional mint tea in one of the lake's café-restaurants ☕.

With its 458 m of positive elevation, the 10 km of the Trail of Morocco is the most atypical of the competition 🤪. Taking place in the village of Lalla Takerkoust, near the lake that bears this name, the race you are about to embark on presents itself as a true labyrinth. Located at the bottom of a valley composed of large bamboo areas, you will have to make your way to the plateau from where you can view the snow-covered Haut-Atlas and reach the eucalyptus forest at the end of the course 😵.

With 160 m of elevation gain, the 10 km walk is the most accessible of the competition 😌. The lake of Lalla Takerkoust is the central site of this race which will also offer a breathtaking view of the High Atlas massif and "the roof of Morocco", Djebel Toubkal 🏔. The race will also let you discover unique landscapes as you traverse hills, sand trails, and eucalyptus 🌲.

The Kids Trail is misnamed, as children will be held to the same standard as adults. But don’t worry, the goal is still for them to embrace the passion of their elders! In fact, parental presence is mandatory for your little one to register 👨👦. Together, you will take a short 3 km journey along the lake before you can relax and enjoy your finisher shirt, medal, as well as some entertainment, a DJ, crepes, and juice 🥞🧃.
