The event in a few words

Trail Maroc continues to write its story with a new adventure! 🤠 After the resounding success of its first editions, we’re delighted to announce the return of the Trail Chefchaouen Talassemtane! ❤️ Enriching our calendar after 24 flagship events such as the Trail Amizmiz and the Trail Lac Lalla Takerkoust, this competition promises even more adrenaline and breathtaking scenery 🤩. Join an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Rif mountains! ⛰️ Another success (no doubt about it) for the organizing team, which is committed to offering races that are as exotic as they are high-quality, notably thanks to top-level logistics 📝. Yes—you won’t have to worry about a thing, except enjoying yourself, during this event that will take place in June in Chefchaouen, the beautiful blue city located in the north of Morocco 🇲🇦. The program is incredible: 2 or 3 days of escape into the lush 🌱 nature of the Talassemtane Park, thanks to a magnificent stage race that promises to leave unforgettable memories 💫.

Does that spark your curiosity? Good! Let’s take a closer look at what you’re going to discover. If there’s one key piece of information to remember, it’s this: everyone can take part! 🤝 Indeed, the cut-off times match those of a walker, which leaves plenty of room! 👌 Trail runners 🏃‍♀️ and walkers 🚶‍♂️ can share this flexible event, which allows all athletic profiles to discover the beauty of the region. In fact, depending on your level and availability, you can choose to do 2 stages or 3 stages 🕺. If you want to head out for a long weekend with the "3 Stages", you should expect to cover 83 km and 5,027 mD+ in total; while those who opt for the "2 Stages" will do 45 km and 1,892 mD+ 🥾. It really is a true multi-day race or hike, with some great surprises at the end of each day 🎉.

The first stage, covering 38 km and 3,135 mD+, will bring you to the Akchour hotel (more or less quickly depending on whether you’re walking or running), where you’ll welcome the “2 Stages” participants ✅. The second stage, 26 km and 1,390 mD+, will take you from Akchour to Talassemtane Park, where you’ll spend a night in a bivouac under the stars 🌌. The third and final stage, with 19 km and 502 mD+, will bring you back to Chefchaouen 🔙. But let us set the scene instead... Picture yourself, after a day as fabulous as it is tiring, relaxing by a campfire 🔥, your friends nearby, a plate of Moroccan food on your lap 🥘, enjoying the retrospective playing before your eyes 🏕️. That’s exactly what awaits you if you choose to take part in this unique experience 🤌. We say experience, yes—and not race—because even though it’s possible to challenge yourself (there is indeed a ranking), that’s not what the Trail Chefchaouen is ultimately about 😌. No, the goal is actually simpler: to showcase, through a sporty eco-tourism trail ♻️, the richness of Morocco’s wettest, most preserved and wild region 🌵. In this completely untouched environment, along natural trails, you’ll discover breathtaking landscapes, grueling vertical climbs, canyons 🏜️, forests of holm oaks 🌳 and junipers, Berber villages, waterfalls, and caves. It’s even included in the package! ⚡

Here’s the deal: you won’t have to take care of anything! This race is not an unsupported challenge at all. On the contrary, you’ll be fully accompanied, so all you have to do is enjoy the experience 🏃‍♂️. Thanks to the 77-person organizing team and the 30-person logistics team, you won’t have to worry about a thing. Foreign participants are even taken care of on Sunday evening (it’s included in the price), while locals can head back home 👆. That will allow you to catch a flight the next day ✈️, without having to rush straight after the end of the trail. In total, 4 nights full board await you, and you’ll even be picked up directly at the airport! Setting up the bivouac area in Talassemtane Park will also be entirely managed by the organization. A "LiveTrail" will allow your loved ones to follow your progress remotely through an app 📲. The routes will always be opened and closed by 2 people, to guide participants and clean up any traces left by runners 🌀. Site visits will take place at checkpoints, where you’ll also find quality refreshments 🥤. Each evening, a prize-giving ceremony will take place to award a medal for each new stage completed, with a big medal as the reward on the last night 🏅. You’ll find a top-notch medical team of 25 people (including podiatrists and physiotherapists). Each of these evenings is also punctuated by numerous activities, shows and speeches 🤹‍♂️, to make the Trail Chefchaouen as friendly as possible. The retrospectives are sure to warm your heart 💝. You’ll be able to see images of the many natural areas you discovered earlier. But not only that! Stops in Chefchaouen are also planned. This city, located in the northeast of the country, at 600 m altitude, at the foot of the Kelaa and Meggou mountains 🗻, has a remarkable picturesque beauty comparable to that of a Greek town 🇬🇷.

Why? Well, because with its blue and white houses, wide stairway corridors and sunny climate, you’d almost think you were in Santorini (minus the Mediterranean Sea)! The surroundings of the city, and especially the Talassemtane National Park, covering nearly 59,000 hectares, are home to 100 bird species 🦅 and 700 plant species 🌼, including many endemic varieties. It is on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity 📚. That’s no small feat! Thanks to this stage race, you’ll have the opportunity to see landscapes as diverse as Morocco has to offer 👣. A real opportunity to seize! You’ll pass by 18 springs, basins and natural pools 💦 that will provide a welcome refreshment in June. In the end, in just 2 or 3 days, you’ll feel as if you’ve been in Corsica, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Alps, and in the south of France 🇫🇷. And yet, it’s indeed Morocco you’re going to! A country with colossal cultural, artistic, gastronomic and architectural wealth 🤯, and with which we share a close bond. By taking part in this trail, you are also directly contributing to social actions organized by the Trail Maroc team. Last bonus: the event is indexed to UTMB and awards 50K and 20K. What more could you ask for? 🏆

Alright, shall we let you book your plane tickets? Sorry, we have to leave you. We’ve suddenly got a craving for tajine! 😉

4 reasons to join this race

Spot-on organization ⏹️
From A to Z, the Trail Chefchaouen takes you by the hand to relieve you of all the stress related to the preparations you might feel 😬. From your arrival on Thursday until your departure on Monday morning, you’ll be in the good care and under the watchful eye of the organization, which hasn’t spared any expense. You’ll have not only a competent team of doctors and logistics staff, but also guides with perfect knowledge of the region, as well as a whole bunch of festivities: entertainment, buffets, screenings... 🎉 Basically, it’s not sport—it’s a vacation!
An incredible program that will leave you with great memories 🥳
The landscapes and experiences you’re going to live through will be as rich and varied as there are trail runners in the world 🌎. You’ll be treated to a stroll through the blue city, a discovery of the natural heritage of Talassemtane Park, entertainment, retrospectives, and moments of serenity under the stars. A program like this—trust us—you don’t get one every day! 😏
A spectacular setting 🤩
City, waterfalls, canyons, natural pools, basins, forests, mountainous terrain... All these landscapes will be part of the same expedition! Even Magellan didn’t see that much 😅. So, as a true explorer, we suggest you bring a small camera to etch this experience in stone... Or on film! 🎞️
The charitable aspect of the event 🤝
30% of the event’s revenues will be donated to an association working to repair schools in the hinterland and invest in infrastructure. A welcome gesture that shows, once again, that the organizers have thought of everything—whether it’s the planet, associations, runners, walkers, or children! 👧
