The event in a few words

Happy Birthday! 🥳

What? It's not today? 🤔 Oh, but yes! Surprise, you didn't know it, but you're going to be showered with gifts very soon 🎁. Specifically, in early May 2026, during the 8th edition of the Ultra Trail Amizmiz! For this festive competition, we're taking you to Morocco, in the small town of Amizmiz, located 55 km from the beautiful Marrakech. Put on your sneakers because we offer you a competition where you'll surely find the right distance for you 👟. Various trail routes are available: 10 km (also achievable by walking), 22 km, 42 km, 64 km, 90 km (also available as a relay by two participants) and kids' courses 👧. You'll quickly see that the setting is impressive as you'll have the chance to run in the High Atlas mountain range, between stone desert and snowy mountains 🏔. Tempted? Come on, we'll tell you more over a good mint tea 🫖.

Trail Maroc, which organizes 4 competitions each year, is back with the 8th edition of the Ultra Trail Amizmiz 🏃‍♂️. The event takes place in the village of Amizmiz, in the Marrakech-Safi region, located near the former royal capital, Marrakech 🇲🇦. With stunning views of the arid desert and the snowy High Atlas (known as "the Roof of Morocco" 🛖), the upcoming races promise to be rich in unique landscapes. Moreover, this nature is largely preserved, thanks to the efforts of marathoners who collect several tons of waste in the area each year ♻. Trails are laid out on existing paths, materials used are biodegradable, and the courses are continuously maintained to fit the sustainability goals of these nature lovers 💚. It's proof that it's possible (and necessary!) to combine a love for outdoor sports with ecology! And to show just how thoughtful the organizers are, they also offer a social dimension to participants! The majority of funds will go to victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Morocco in September 2023, causing many casualties, injuries, and homelessness 🙏.

After completing your good deed and participating in the race, you can indulge in your preferred activities, whether they are sports, cultural, historical, religious, or culinary 🥳. Indeed, the Marrakech-Safi region is the perfect blend of wild nature and urban dynamism. You can, for instance, continue with one of the High Atlas hiking trails, enjoy a horse, donkey, or camel ride, or go quad biking in the Agafay Desert to see the enchanting oasis 🤩. Canoeing, kayaking, golf... there is no shortage of outdoor activities, and enthusiasts will be amazed by the rich local wildlife in the Toubkal National Park, home to gazelles, lynxes, leopards, jackals, mouflons, and birds of prey 🦅. The flora is also noteworthy, as you'll see throughout your races 🌳. You'll be surprised by the region's biodiversity as you pass by the eucalyptus forest, olive groves, or visit the gardens of Menara and Majorelle 🌵.

If you're not convinced yet, know that we have more reasons for you. One of them is called "tajine", and another is "couscous"... 🥘 You know what we're talking about, right? Your head must be spinning like a souk 😏 with all this information. So we'll let you recover and look forward to seeing you under the sun of Marrakech next April, in the Medina of the city. And if, unfortunately, you can't participate in the competition, know that you can immediately dry your tears and start looking at the Trail or Bike Takerkoust, Trail Aurocher Oukaimeden, or Trail or Bike Marrakech. All these events are also offered by Trail Maroc. They're full of great ideas! 🫶

9 reasons to join this race

The Amizmiz Escape 😮
Traveling from afar just to do a trail? No! Trail running is a bit like embarking on a journey. Trail Maroc offers a one-day escape, 1 or 2 days before or after the event, for each of their trails, allowing you to discover breathtaking natural spots. For this 6th edition, you can book a visit to the Yagour plateau, a rarely visited region of the Toubkal, filled with ancient rock carvings. This unique hike in the High Atlas will take you through diverse wild landscapes: high valleys, mountain passes, high plateaus, gorges, mud-brick villages clinging to mountainsides, rivers, and waterfalls. So, ready for this little warm-up? 😏
A Wide Variety of Races 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️
With no less than 5 trails, including a relay option, a hike, and kids/junior races, there's something for everyone to find the event that suits them best. The competition intentionally includes races for all levels. Whether you're an amateur, beginner, expert, or pro, you'll find your place on the race site 🥰.
Ecological Commitment 🌳
From biodegradable materials to eco-friendly constructions, the Trail Amizmiz is entirely dedicated to the planet and nature. The trails follow paths used by animals, and a waste collection initiative is in place throughout the routes ♻. Last year, the organization managed to collect several tons of trash and has no plans to stop there. For them, outdoor sports naturally go hand in hand with ecological responsibility 💪.
Social Commitment 🤝
Besides its strong ecological commitment, the Trail Maroc is also an association aimed at raising funds to support the victims of the September 2023 earthquake and their families. Donations can be made on the race's website or in person. Every donation is used transparently, so you can see exactly how your contribution is utilized. Isn't that the beauty of both running and love? 💛
Stunning Contrasting Landscapes 😍
You'll never feel smaller than when you're standing before these high mountains, lost in the midst of your desert. What could be more exotic and intriguing than the stark contrast between hot and cold, sand and snow, arid and humid? ❄🌞 But the breathtaking landscapes of the region aren't limited to that; the local flora and fauna also offer plenty of surprises 😌. How about a hike to discover it all?
High Mountains Nearby 🏔
Mmmh, there's nothing like the feeling of breathing in pure, fresh air! If that's what you're after, you'll be thrilled as soon as you reach the High Atlas. Part of the Atlas Mountain range that stretches from Morocco to Tunisia through Algeria, the High Atlas includes North Africa's highest peak: the "roof of Morocco" ☝. So, if you need an oxygen boost, you know where to go! 😊
Cultural, Artistic, and Architectural Richness 🇲🇦
From the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech to the riads of the Medina, the Marrakech-Safi region is renowned for its cultural wealth 🤌. The Red City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts countless historical monuments. You'll have the chance to explore ancient Berber villages hidden in the Toubkal National Park, the Koutoubia Minaret, the 'Marrakech Lighthouse', the Rajal Theatre, and the palaces of the former royal capital 🕌.
Mouth-Watering Gastronomy 🍽
Lamb and olive tagine, traditional couscous, pastilla... 🍲 There are plenty of dishes to discover. Whether you're a fan of oriental cuisine or not, you'll inevitably be charmed by the traditional dishes and drinks of the Ochre City 🫖. A delightful mix of flavors, colors, spices, and sweet-savory combinations awaits you in one of the many typical restaurants in the village or the former royal capital 👑.
Available Activities 😛
During your travels, you'll encounter a wide variety of activities and sights. If you're an adrenaline junkie, you can go for a hot air balloon ride or skydiving 🪂. For city lovers, you can wander between neighborhoods, experiencing the picturesque authenticity of the Medina and the modern vibe of the Gueliz district. Couples will enjoy carriage rides or sunny terraces, while friends can hit the nightclubs 🪩. Locals can reconnect with their roots by participating in traditional festivals where they can sing, dance, and feast to their heart's content 🕺.
