Semi-Marathon de Naples
"In my eyes, it's without comparison, the most beautiful city in the universe." The French writer Stendhal ✍️, a passionate lover of Italy 🇮🇹, knew what he was talking about: Naples is an astonishing and... explosive city! 🌋 A vibrant mix of chronic traffic jams, gleaming churches, renovating palazzi, shops packed with various delights, and a seaside caressed by the Mediterranean 🌊, Naples is overshadowed by a giant: Mount Vesuvius 😍. It's in this dream setting that the Semi-Marathon of Naples (officially the Napoli City Half Marathon) takes place. But that's not all! In addition to the classic half marathon, take on the challenge of the "Staffetta", a relay race of 21.0975 km 🤝. An adventure to share with others, combining performance and team spirit 🏃♀️
It's here in this city of Campania, full of contrasts, that artists as prestigious as Boccaccio and Caravaggio ✍️ have come to express their creativity. It's also here, in Italy's third-largest city, that you can enjoy a morning ristretto ☕️ with the locals, stroll through steep alleyways, explore the cultural richness of the museums in the historic center, climb Vomero hill to admire the sunset igniting the city, and sip a Spritz at aperitivo time 🍸. A true dolce vita to savor over a weekend... 😎 Preferably in February, as that's when the fastest half marathon in the boot takes place! 👢😜
Established in 2016, the Naples Half Marathon is simply the race that holds both the national female and male records for the distance 😮. Needless to say, there's some serious speed in the Neapolitan streets! ⚡️ While the fastest runners may not have the time to admire the route, you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular course 🤩. Running alongside the sea, through the historic district, with Mount Vesuvius in the background, and, as the cherry on top—or rather, the olive on the pizza 🍕—strive to beat your personal best ⏱️: this is the tempting agenda of the Naples Half Marathon! All under the impeccable organization with no less than 3 prestigious labels: the bronze 🥉 from World Athletics, 5 stars ⭐️ from European Athletics, and gold 🥇 from FIDAL.
And because life isn't all about running, you can take advantage of your visit to Naples to enjoy a few days of vacation on the famous Amalfi Coast, a true Mediterranean jewel 😎. If you feel adventurous, you might even take a trip to the famed island of Capri or escape to the less-touristy islands of Ischia and Procida 🏝️. We have a feeling your schedule will be packed next February after you've snagged your finisher's medal! 😅
Ready to take on the challenge? 🚀 We’re eagerly waiting for you!
The race kicks off from Piazza Tecchio and heads into the Laziale tunnel before reaching Piazza Sannazaro. You'll then start running alongside the sea 🌊; don't forget to take in the beautiful views! 👀 At the 5th kilometer, you'll have the chance to admire the Castel dell’Ovo 🏰. Continuing along the Mediterranean coast, you'll head towards the harbor 🚤.
At the 10th kilometer, you’ll make a 180° turn and run back along the sea by the port before turning right towards Piazza Bovio. You'll then proceed on a round-trip along Corso Umberto ⏮️. After crossing Piazza Municipio, you'll pass through the historic city center before returning to the shores of the Mediterranean 😍.
A second journey through the Laziale tunnel will lead you to the final straight stretch before crossing the finish line at Piazza Tecchio 🏁. Live music bands 🎶 will keep you entertained throughout the run, and three refreshment stations 🍽️ will ensure you're fueled for the entire race. Well done!
The Naples Half Marathon can also be run as a relay with two participants, following exactly the same route as the individual half marathon. The first leg covers 10 km and the second leg offers 11.097 km. It's a perfect opportunity to share the experience and teamwork ! 🤝
