The time has come! 🫵
Head to the Doubs, in the heart of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, for three days of pure outdoor sport outdoor in mid-June 🌿. If you can't decide your favorite discipline between MTB, kayak 🛶, running or swimming, look no further: the Festival Grandes Heures Nature allows you to combine it all in one weekend 😎. Imagine a base camp set up at Chamars Park, between verdant hills and the curves of the Doubs 💦, where nearly 10 different events intersect. You know, a bit like those top-level athletes who go to train for several days in the heights of Font-Romeu 🫁. You can fully dedicate yourself to sport for more than 72 hours 🥵. This festival that attracts thousands of participants every year is a unique experience of sharing and meeting around the outdoor practice 👊 So, don't miss your chance! 🤘
If you're more into team sports, you might have already heard of Ekiden? 🤝 This marathon distance is to be run in relay as fast as possible, with times recorded nationally 🇫🇷. You can compare yourself to all other recorded results 📋. 42.195 km is easier when split into smaller chunks of 5 km and 10 km 🤪. For our friends who prefer mechanical efforts: a MTB track is also available 🚵. With a 50 km loop and 1,084 mD+, the ride won't be easy, but it will surely offer some beautiful views 🤩. Technical trails abound around Besançon, and it's advised to keep your eyes wide open 👀. The more original among us will also find their share: kayak, swimrun, and even climbing are available 🧗. It's going to be a real celebration of diversity. Imagine if the sun shows up ☀️. You paddle, you tan, and you meet people: wouldn't this be a holiday in advance? 👙.
But we haven't told you everything yet ❌. If, despite all these options, you still haven't found your fit 👟, listen closely: a gourmet hike just 12 km long with an entrée, main course 🍽️, cheese 🧀, dessert, and drinks opens its doors on Sunday morning. You can follow your partner on their physical journey and then sneak away to enjoy little delicacies lovingly prepared by local caterers and restaurants 🤤. And the children's excuse is not valid either: kids multisport courses are organized on Saturday and Sunday 😋. Take the whole family and head to Greater Besançon 🧭. That weekend, you're in for a truly unique atmosphere. The site buzzes with sports demonstrations and introductions 🥳. It's an event that brings together the entire outdoor community 🏔️, from kayakers to climbers, sharing values of conviviality, self-improvement, and kindness.
Take a look around 👁️, you'll see you're not just anywhere: you're at the foot of the Vauban fortifications 🏰, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (no less). Besançon is also a true cultural city: a certain Victor Hugo was born there, and it served as a film set for iconic scenes of "Red and Black" 🎬. The forests and valleys that surround the small city also give it a natural charm 🌳. To extend the experience, take an unusual tour of the zoological garden or visit the Museum of Time, an icon of the city 🏙️. If you still have some energy left, take an impromptu walk along the Strasbourg Quays. With the sunset 🌇, we assure you won't be disappointed 🕶️. And to recover, buy yourself some Comté cheese or an authentic Morteau sausage 🌭: you'll be raring to go again ⛽️.
In June, meet in Besançon for a breath of fresh air 🧘.
The organizer's message:
"Join us at the Festival Grandes Heures Nature from June 11 to June 14, 2026, featuring lots of new attractions like the new swimrun event, an unprecedented challenge combining swimming and running, or an unforgettable and electric show at the Citadel during the X'trem Citadelle MTB! Also, enjoy the return of classics: the Ekiden, the Raids X’Périences, the Raid Kids, the Gourmet Hike, the Kayak Trek, and the Climbing Contest will all be featured once again. Now that you have the schedule of events, get ready for some training! 😉"

A legendary event to complete as a team 🎽.
Gather your best teammates for the challenge, you won't want to dawdle 😈. Surrounded by your 5 favorite athletes (plus you, making it a 6-person relay), you'll start from Chamars, in the south of Besançon on a course divided as follows:
If the measurements are accurate, it results in a marathon just about, aside from the elevation that will test your legs 😬. The course has a trail style and alternates between urban and natural passages for the enjoyment of all participants 🌱.
Good "Swimrun", if you're at least a little bilingual, you can guess what awaits you?
Indeed, it's all in the name: you swim, you run, and you do this several times 😄. To be completely transparent, there are 5 aquatic parts to account for here, with a maximum section of 1,200 m of swimming 🤿. In total, you will cover 16.5 km, with 75% running and 25% swimming: we'll let you do the math 😝. There's minimal elevation gain on the agenda, the goal isn't to wear you out either. You'll have to make do with 200 mD+ over the entire trail portion (it's rare for elevation gain to occur while swimming ...) 📈. No need to worry about energy reserves; you'll have 3 refreshment stations available along the course, so you'll have more than enough to finish your event with plenty of carbohydrates 🔋.
One last bit of information about the swimming sections: you're in luck, the organizers allow you to bring your pull buoy and paddles ✅: no need to move your legs, they'll float anyway 🛟.
Just like its big brother the "Swimrun M", this course is divided into several parts of swimming and running: 6 land sections and 5 aquatic sections 🏊♀️.
You will start from Chamars, the nerve center of this event, before covering 1.6 km in the city 🧱, then dipping your first toes into the water 🥶. It seems cold at first, but between the effort and getting used to it, you'll soon feel like it's warming up 🔥. The route is half as long as the "Swimrun M" course but is not easy by any means: you will have to cover 8.6 km, 60 mD+ and 30% swimming before reaching the finish line and slipping into your slippers by the fire. The finisher shower, you've earned it 🚿.
The perfect event for those who want to have a good time 🤤.
You burn calories, then immediately replenish them thanks to the restaurants and caterers mobilized for the occasion 🥨. Who said you need to walk 42 km to have a good day? The 12 km and 200 mD+ can be done at your own pace (and that of your digestion) 😜.
A water descent to enjoy peacefully or in competition mode! 🚤
On the "Rand'O Kayak", you start alone or in tandem, according to your preferences, for a "small" ride of 12 km between Chalèze and Chamars 😎. You're lucky; you're going with the current... The route takes you through the historic center of Besançon and past the foot of the Citadel for full immersion in the heritage 🚣♀️. Seeing the city from this perspective is not something everyone gets to do 🤩.
The "Raid Kids" format is for children and adults who want to share a common adventure 🔗.
3 waves of starts are announced: one first on Saturday and two others on Sunday 💨.
Teams consist of 4 to 6 runners, including at least one adult 👨. However, there's no upper limit: you can all come and compete in the children's competition if the adult level is too intimidating 😬. The race lasts 2 km and introduces the youngest to disciplines commonly found in raids: MTB, orienteering 🧭, climbing, kayak... What's certain is that the course promises to be more fun than technical 😉. The goal of the "Raid Kids" formats is mainly fun and discovery 🍃.
And no matter your result, a participant gift is offered to the whole team 🎁, ensuring your effort is justly rewarded! If you're not coming for the sport or the atmosphere, at least come for the surprise 😝.
