"Be the Herald of your race" 🦸♂️
Occitania is a region where it's always pleasant to run 🏃♀️. Even more so in the department of Hérault, when you discover a city as pleasant and sunny ☀️ as Montpellier with its beaches 🏖. It's in April that you can come challenge yourself at the Montpellier Run Festival (Montpellier Marathon) 😏. It will start to smell like spring 🌸, fine sand, and a good atmosphere 🕺🏼. To come enjoy the city and its attractions, you'll first have to choose your distance ↔️. On the agenda: a 5 km, 10 km, a half-marathon, and a marathon (which you can also do in relay) as well as races for the children. The “Montpellier Marathon” features over 10,000 runners from at least 35 different nationalities 🌍 on the starting line! Come confront runners from around the world 🥰. 300 days of sunshine per year, terraces, the beach, and good humor 😁, everything is set for an exceptional sporting moment! 🙌
It's at the heart 🧡 of one of the most beautiful metropolises in France 🇫🇷, Montpellier, built 10 centuries ago, that your next sporting meeting takes place 🗓️. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate 🌊, the municipality boasts a remarkable natural heritage 🌳 such as the coastal river Lez, listed on the Natura 2000 network. Natural 🍃, yes, cultural 📚 and economic too! What better way to start than at the Jardin des Plantes? 🌸 To kick things off right, let us suggest a 10 km. With several hundred participants each year 🤓, it's one of the weekend's highlights! Now let's dive into the heart of the matter, my dear Harry 🧙, with perhaps a semi-marathon? 🤔 21.097 km and the opportunity to set a nice goal. Whether that's to be a finisher or to improve your personal record ⏱️.
Head towards the gorgeous vineyards 🍇 at the Domaine de Verchant! 🖼️ It's right in the city center, specifically in the heart of the Antigone, Verchant, Grammont neighborhoods, the Marianne park and the City Hall that you will run! 😍 And for the marathon, you will complete this loop twice in grand style 😎. The final stretch will lead you to the Avenue Foch and the beautiful Arc de Triomphe 🏆, in front of a large gathering of people 👏. If you love sharing 👐, the relay Ekiden race offers the chance to take on the marathon myth with 6 runners 🤝. No matter the distance, the courses designed by the organizers are all worth exploring and perfectly reflect the region's advantages ✨. Children won't miss out, as events have been planned just for them 😊.
After your event, you'll be able to enjoy yourself! 😋 It's worth noting that Montpellier often ranks very highly among French cities where it's good to live 🏅. So, plan on spending a few days exploring the capital of the former Languedoc-Roussillon region 🪻. It would be a shame not to see the beauties of the Hérault. Beaches 🏖️, museums 🖼️, terraces 🍹 on the Place de la Comédie or Place Jean Jaurès in the city center... 📍There's nothing better for having great moments! And to do so, what better than a delicious Tielle Sétoise? Between bread dough and shortcrust pastry, this delightful little pie 🥧 is sure to please lovers of spicy flavors 🔥. Still based on bread dough 🥖, treat yourself to the richness of the Fougasse aux Fritons. To be consumed only after the race, under the risk of not being able to take off 🛫 from the starting line 😂.
So, are you ready for this very Occitan weekend? 🤩
For this marathon, you will complete the half-marathon loop twice! 🤓
Starting from the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier, you will head towards the Place de la Comédie 🎭. You will continue your journey to the Parc Rimbaud which will offer you a green haven! 🌿 Then you will tackle a long straight line that will guide you to Grammont before bringing you down to the Domaine de Verchant 🍇 and the Zénith Sud. A second long straight line will take you to the City Hall. Hang in there, it's almost the end! 💪 The last few kilometers will take you past Montpellier Saint-Roch, the Tour de la Babote to cross the finish line at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe! 🥰
The little ones will have their own races during the Montpellier Run Festival 🧒. Nothing better to make the event even more family-friendly! 🤗
Join us on Saturday, April 18, 2026, to see the budding runners perform! 🏃 For children aged 7 to 15, events from 400 m to 3 km will be offered depending on their age 🤓.
The registration cost will be €2. An accessible race to introduce the practice of running to as many as possible 💪.
