The event in a few words

It seems that all roads lead to Rome… 🙄 And we bet that your runner's path will definitely take you to the Rome 21K this November! 😉 The event features a half-marathon and a 10K race, charted right in the heart of the Italian capital 🇮🇹, an incredible city in the Latium region where 28 centuries of history create a fascinating urban landscape and a veritable open-air museum 😍. Thanks to its very smooth course (we promise, we won't make you climb the famous 7 hills), the Rome 21K is the ideal race to challenge your personal record on a half-marathon or a 10K. And if you're not interested in tracking your pace, you can also join the 10K "Fun" race, open to runners, walkers, and everyone who wants to enjoy the celebration without worrying about rankings! 🥳

No matter your choice, for a weekend in the Caput Mundi, you'll feel at the center of the universe! Whether you go for the 10K or the Rome 21K, you'll be dazzled by the exceptional monuments along the route: from the Colosseum to the stunning Vatican 🇻🇦 and its gardens. It's much more than a race: it's a high-speed guided tour of the Eternal City. Take courage in both feet and cross the city's bridges and viaducts for an unforgettable running experience! ✨ The Rome half-marathon course immerses participants in an incredible tour, among ancient temples and amphitheaters, churches of all sizes, magnificent palaces featuring Renaissance and Baroque architecture, countless fountains, and quaint streets with a medieval flair… 🥰 Memories that will stay with you forever!

After your race, expand your exploration and discover the Urbs filled with historical wonders and museums, like the Pantheon and the Sistine Chapel 🤩. Rome is brimming with activities to do and places to visit. When it comes to recovery, you can count on the local cuisine for a glycogen refill 🤤. Indulge in dishes like spaghetti carbonara, penne all’arrabiata, gnocchi alla romana, Roman pizza 🍕, pomodori al riso, and also stracciatella (not the ice cream flavor, but a meat broth with eggs and Parmesan ☺️), or even coda alla vaccinara (brace yourself, it's an oxtail stew! 😅). You can also relax in the Villa Borghese, the city's green lung, or lose yourself in the picturesque alleyways of the historic Monti district... Your recovery might be quite active!

Oh, one last tip: to be sure of beating your record, don't forget to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain ⛲️. It would be a pity not to give yourself every chance of success!

4 reasons to join this race

Running in a Legendary City 🙌
Rome is not just the second cradle of Western civilization after Athens; it was the epicenter of the Roman Empire. To say Rome plays a significant part in European history is an understatement! It's no wonder it's nicknamed the Eternal City. Running in such an iconic city has quite the allure, doesn't it?
Supporting a Noble Cause 🤝
The event champions the Veronesi Foundation, which works to support women battling breast cancer 🎗️. The 'Pink Ambassadors' will take on the half-marathon challenge: after six months of training, they aim to complete the 21 km (around 13 miles) distance in November, showcasing that illness does not spell doom.
Experiencing La Dolce Vita 🤌
Our Italian neighbors surely know how to live well! The dolce vita (sweet life) didn't become famous for no reason. Take the opportunity at the Rome 21K to immerse yourself in this carefree lifestyle dedicated to pleasure, a heritage from the 1950s-1960s. Did you know that Rome was the capital of la dolce vita during this period, with the Via Veneto, its hotels, and nightclubs at the heart of it all?
The Post-Race Treats That Will Delight You 😋
Both literally and figuratively speaking. You'll get the chance not only to taste the most iconic dishes from one of the world's finest cuisines but also to delve deeper into the richness of this ancient city. A true delight! 👏

A few more words

The race starts in the Flaminio district, home of the namesake stadium that hosts football and rugby matches 🏉. The half-marathon kicks off by tracing the Tiber River until the 5th kilometer. The course then dashes towards Piazza del Popolo, descends down via del Babuino (yes, you heard that right!), before swerving to reach Piazza d'Aracoeli and swiftly (at 9.5 km) getting back to the banks of the Tiber opposite the Tiber Island. You'll follow the river’s edge to the 12th kilometer 🏃‍♀️, where you'll cross the Ponte Cavour. You'll pass through the Prati district, and Piazza Mazzini, before skirting the foot of Monte Mario ⛰️. No worries, the route stays level as you run along the Tiber, and soon you'll be making your way back to the barn: you'll cross the river 🌊 a second time via the Ponte Duca d’Aosta at the 18.5 km mark. From there, you just need to pick up the pace to return to the start/finish line 🏁.

The 10 km race kicks off and finishes in the same location as the half marathon, right at the heart of the Olympic Village Quarter 🔥, in Flaminio. After an initial straight stretch 📏, you'll take a right towards the Sports Palace, then onto the banks of the Tiber River, which you'll follow up to the Risorgimento Bridge at km 3.5. Crossing the river, you'll reach Piazza Mazzini and make a short loop 🔁 that brings you back to the Tiber's shores. The route then offers 2 km of flat terrain leading to the Duke of Aosta Bridge, which you'll cross at km 7.5. All that's left is to give it your all in the final stretch to the finish line! 🏁
